“Not For Business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2008

I stayed at the Mediterranean Beach hotel last weekend for a business trip... While I could see that this would have been a lovely place for a holiday, it was NOT a good place for business... There was no internet available in the room, no alarm clock and no business center in the hotel... Apparently the deluxe rooms have internet but they were completely booked so I could not even upgrade... their brochures and even the book they leave in each guest room says that there is wireless internet in ALL guest rooms... this is a lie! you must pay 10 euro to use the wireless in the lobby with the other loud patrons...

Also, BRING YOUR OWN HAIRDRYER. The hairdryer in the standard room likes like it's from the 60s and does not work at all... Remember to iron your clothes before arriving because THERE IS NO IRON IN THE GUEST ROOMS... There is a common "ironing room" in the hotel - which I think is horribly strange...

The pool was lovely and the staff was very kind. I think this would be great for a holiday, but if you're there to do business AVOID the mediterranean beach hotel

We booked our stay direct with the hotel some three months before our weeks holiday in October this year and we received their comfirmation by returm email. I emailed the hotel the day before our departure confirming our arrival time and requesting a taxi to pick us up. and there was no suggestion of any problem .It was not until we Arrived at the hotel that we where told that they where over booked and that they had arrainged for us to stay the first three nights of the week at the St Rapheal tranfering back to them on the thursday.
The reason given for the over booking was because of the collapse of Excel, but this was three weeks before our stay and we had not booked via Excel.
The management said that they had upgraded us at the St Raphael at the own expense, making it sound as if it was costing them a lot more on checking the rates there was very little difference in the price.
When it became apparent that despite our protestations we wherenot going to be accommdated at the Med Beach our stay only going to be a week we said that we where not prepared to go through of changing hotels mid week effectively lossing a day out of our brief stay and after some discussion they aggreed to this. The St Rapheal was not what we wanted from our brief holiday in Cyprus and had we been given a few days notice we would have made our own arrangements hotelwise or cancelled our flights.
The whole experience has left a very bitter taste.

Me and my grandparents went to the mediterranean in august 2008. The room had a mini bar which was charging around
600% for drinks so if you want drinks go across the road to Castle Place Supermarket where there is very good service and 40 cents for a can of coke.

The 3rd bed was a camp bed which was so short I (I am 11) had my feet hanging off the end.

On my last day I went scuba diving at the hotels PADI Dive-In centre. The instructor called steve was very patient. The dive was one-to-one and for 2 - 2 1/2 hrs and cost 70 euros/£40 which may sound a lot of money but considering the dream experience
of marine life it is worth it!

On my last night I found a deceased cat in the hotel grounds I told the front desk they said they would tell maintenance and 3hrs later it was still there.

feel free to contact me for more info on the hotel or area on tel: [--]

I went to the Med Beach Hotel with my wife and 2 daughters (4 and 2 years old), and was recommended the hotel as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Four Seasons where we had stayed 3 years ago.

First of all, I must say that the pool, gym and facilities as a whole was good. HOWEVER, the family rooms are small, and this is my biggest gripe. Not only that, the reception staff are not helpful or friendly in my opinion. When we arrived and saw the size of the room, we asked for some more space by having the table and 2 chairs removed from the inside of the room, and taken somewhere else. The response was that they do not do this, and there was nothing we could do. I responded by saying that if they did not remove it from the room, then I would put it out on the balcony or in the hallway - they decided it best to move it themselves.

The hotel is cleaned very well, and the food was great! I would not advise families who are looking for some space to move about in the room - try to get adjoining rooms (but this is costly!), but the facilities were great.

We stayed at the Mediterranean Beach in July of this year, As a family we all agreed that it was a wonderful hotel. There was s wonderfully relaxed and calm air around the place, The staff in all areas we found to be very friendly, especially the younger staff who were employed in the poolside bar. The rooms are cleaned to a good standard,The T.V in the rooms have all the main british channels, so you dont have to worry if you forgot to set your video to record Eastenders in your rush to catch your plane! The food in the main restuarant was fine but did get a little familiar after a few days, again the staff were very pleasant and efficient in finding you the table of your choice for breakfast. There was always plenty of sun loungers to be had even at the most busiest time of day, which is great if you come back mid afternoon from a day out and you want just an hour or two to relax and swimin th pool,The No.30 bus stops outside of the hotel, just to the left ,and this will take you anywhere along the main areas of Limassol for just over 1 euro each way and runs every 20 minutes, but seemed to be more frequent. Also the same stop is a pick up for a limited public service that takes you directly to the Fasouri Water Park, which is brilliant fun for everyone, especially the kids. It`s a little pricey on admission, but they offer you a half price admission if you book to go again. Limassol itself has all that you would need in terms of restaurants and bars/pubs(they do like their televised football) and shops, but is not a particularly attractive town. The local shopkeepers were very curteous and their prices for such things as water were much cheaper than hotel prices.
All in all a good holiday.

This was my 1st visit to Cyprus, & chose the Med Beach Hotel for its reviews and price. The Hotel over all is actually a 4 star ( 3 in some aspects )

Pros:
1- The staff were helpful for an early check in
2- The servise is good
3- Honest Staff
4- value for money is very good.
5- The Sea view is great
cons:
1- the lobby need more Air conditioning as well as the resturante
2- needs more varaities for breakfast ( its great but same for a week is a bit too much)
3- My doube was a twin pushed together.
4- a major one ( NOT enough seats at the beach ) for a week I didn't find a single sun-bathing location ) on the pool if I wanted a seat I have to drop my stuff VERY early & then go eat, people actually leave they stuff over night.
5- its a LITTLE far from the tourist area ( not walking )

Otherthen that its a good hotel.

small advice ( if you want the VERY same stuff in cyprus just half price, Try sharm el-Shaikh ) I want to cyprus for a change since I want to Sharm over 5 times.

  • Liked — the staff, the View
  • Disliked — More AC needed in the hotel ( not the rooms ) i.e. Lobby, Resturante internet corner etc

We stayed at the Med for 2 weeks. The hotel was nice, standard room but clean. However we had a room facing the main road, even though we were on the top floor the traffic was really noisy especially at night. I would advise, if you are a light sleeper to pay the extra and go for a sea view.

The pool area was lovely and the hotel was right on the beach. The breakfast was nice and had a varitey of foods from cooked breakfast, cereals and continental. The Italian Restaurant in the hotel was amazing, the service was excellent and the food was brilliant. We also had food in the outdoor restaurant, however, this was not good and poor for a 4* restaurant. I would recommend eating at the Italian, restaurant Bacco.

However, we did not have a fridge in the room which was annoying as we were bed and breakfast and wanted to keep water cold. The staff at the hotel were the most unhelpful, when we asked about bus routes/timetables to get to town they did not know and then ignored us. The language barrier was a great difficulty when asking staff about going haalf board they didn't seem to have a clue. We also asked them about Cypritic Pounds as we had some from a previous holiday and wondered if we could still use this money as we were aware that Cyprus use Euros, the woman at reception just ignored us.

There were no activities in this hotel either which made our time at the hotel slightly boring. However, there was a good gym and a nice spa. The location of the hotel was ok, was surrounded with many pubs and restuarants.

All in all our stay was ok, but could have been so much better if the staff were friendlier and much more helpful.
