We booked this hotel for a week stay for the Christening of our Grand daughter in Nicosia, to use as a base, but on finding this site and it's reports we were quite apprehensive on arrival. We need not have been!
Our room was one of those not with a sea view but whilst it is overlooking a main road it was not particularly noisy - no more than I would expext. Certainly it was clean and tidy and cleaned each day. And if you are looking for a direct comparison it was as good if not better than a Travelodge in the UK - and you pay £50 a night for one of those with no meals included.
We booked bed & breakfast as we would be doing a lot of travelling during our stay. The breakfasts were always fine - buffet style - but as we arrived late we decided to take advantage of an evening meal offer to B&B residents of a buffet evening meal at £5 per head. What we had was a really impressive 'eat all you can' four course meal that was excellent value for money.
The staff were fine at all times and I have to say that we would go back to this hotel again, as the price that we paid was definately value for money. It isn't a five star hotel but then again you are not paying five star prices!!
By the way the balconies are fine so I can only say I would not want that builder that posted previously around at my house

Do yourself a big favor and stay away from this hotel !
While we were there, we had no hot water for 4 days, The motor in the air con (if that is what it was )burnt out and was not fixed for 3 days and 80% of the staff that could not give a toss for 14 days.
The place is filthy and doesnt just need a lick of paint , but wants knocking down.
I am a builder by trade and let me tell you "All the balconie floors are cracking and dropping and it is only a matter of time before one of them ends up in the pool beneath." The place is an accident waiting to happen, so dont be thier when it does.
The only thing I can praise it for, was the food. The chef did try and do the best with what he had and that was not much.
There are stray cats weeing everywere, everything in the hotel is shabby and I mean everything. We went with Olimpic and if this is the type of hotel they offerring I would never go anywhere with them again.
I'm telling you the truth here, keep away!!!!!!!!!!!

A Christmas break in Cyprus. Looking forward to a holiday.
The resort Limassol, the area Amathus, the hotel King Richard Beach
The result - Total disappointment!!
Poor service, unclean hotel, drab and shabby room and overall if I were King Richard I would be most annoyed that my name was being used by such an unprofessional business
I would suggest to any holiday maker that you should read the reviews BEFORE BOOKING!

“Hotel from hell”

As a seasoned traveller to Cyprus, it was a real disappointment when we arrived at this hotel for the Christmas period. When we stepped out of the lift the smell of dampness hit you. The rooms were shabby and the sheets on the bed were so thin you could see the stained mattresses. We had booked for one week but left on the second day as the thought of spending Christmas in what the locals call "fawlty towers" did not appeal. There were about 6 other people staying there complaining all the time but some were there for several weeks and couldn't leave. The tables in the shabby dining room ,where the curtains were hanging down, were covered with plastic cloths and even when we arrived at 7p.m. for the one dinner we had the food was tepid and the plates were cold. There was just sufficient food for the handful of guests so if you wanted more - tough! There were chandeliers in the dining room but only one bulb in each one was working. This is supposed to be 3* but the hotel we moved to was also 3* but it was full to capacity, had a gym, spa, indoor pool and wonderful food and per day was cheaper than the King Richard. We ended up paying twice for our accommodation but it was worth it to have a good Christmas. Dont go to the King Richard.

My husband and myself booked this hotel for 7 nights. What a mistake! He went on business and I on holiday. It doesn't look too bad from the front and our room looked shabby. Worn bed linen and curtains, etc.
Now the bad stuff - The air conditioning didn't work, so my husband asked for someone to look at it and someone did look at it - and that is what he did - just looked at it and said it was working o.k., so we asked for a fan. What a Godsend. I don't think I could have survived without it, although it was only a desk fan. The t.v. reception was very bad. The swimming pool was o.k., but you could only use it from 10am to 6pm! Not enough soiled sunbeds for the amount of travellers though. Reception staff were not very friendly and got a grunt in answer to our "good morning", so we never bothered again. One waiter was polite and friendly, as was the maid who made up our bed, but kept asking me, "is it my fault you are leaving?". Perhaps she thought we were going to complain about her to the management - who knows?
Now for the really bad stuff - Food was terrible, what there was of it. Breakfast was usually cereal, greasy eggs or boiled eggs (no egg cups) & chipolata sausages, and only if you got to breakfast early. The second day we were there, there was no coffee, no cornflakes and you could see through the glass of orange juice. We didn't have breakfast there again. The dinner, ha-ha, was dried up pieces of meat (I think lamb?), cold carrots & cold mash potato, which were all uncovered and food still on the serving spoons with flies buzzing around, ugh. We ordered to Keo beers and were asked to pay for them, NOW. Needless to say, we didn't have dinner there again. We checked out after 3 days. Lost our money, but it was worth it. We went along to the Mediterranean Beach Hotel and were pleasantly surprised. What a difference another star rating makes.
We would not go back to King Richard (which I think should be downgraded to **) if it was FREE.
