“Enjoyable, Accommodating & Relaxing Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We chose the hotel based on our needs as a family (3 young children), which included occupancy, 'on beach', and all-inclusive. Other than looking on this site, and youtube, we weren't sure what to expect of the hotel.

On arrival, we were delighted! It's a spacious hotel, set in impecable, lush and fragrant grounds, right on the beach.
Within the hotel, there is a huge central marbled atrium, off which there are comfortable 5* seating areas, a separate bar area (with an amazing view over the grounds and the sea/marina), and further restaurants.

As a family, we were extremely pleased by the events available for children (kids clubs in the daytime in a separate large indoor area, and a games room where cartoons are played in the evenings) - people without children can be assured that these are subtly hidden away so you're not overwhelmed by children all the time, and indeed there is a quiet lawn area overlooking the sea which is 'not for children').

We opted for 'half board' (breakfast and dinner) and the quality and range was truly excellent, (it's not really fair to call it a buffet - the quality was really very good and chef-served), and the rooms themselves were great (large, airy, marbled, cypriot art, etc).
The staff were always extremely attentive and friendly.
Bedroom was fine, very clean (mountain view for 2+3), although if the budget would have stretched it might have been nicer to wake up facing the sea.
Our only wish was to have stayed longer... We have already decided to return!

Room Tip: We got a 'mountain view' based on the occupancy needs, which is cheaper than sea / marina vi...

This hotel offers great location for a little R & R for family and friends. Service at the hotel was wonderful and very friendly. Any question seamed to have the answer you wished to hear on vacation or if not they would see what they can do to help. Food was not the best but it is an all inclusive hotel and was in the off season. only 15 minutes to center of town if that and easy connections on Bus or Taxi. the Beach is nice, lots of things to see and do in the area so book now! go ahead and start planning your second trip also we are and just got back!

just got back from this resort and found its now a bit tired. indoor swimming pool has visible leaks from glass roof. internet charges are rather expensive. breakfast choice was non existant, the same every morning with VERY watered down juices. MOST staff are friendly especially SACHA the restaurant manager, excellent customer service from him. unfortunately had to have a word with sacha as his supervisor in the restaurant ELIANIS visibly ticked off one of the staff for talking to me BUT was quite happy to spend more time being attentive to the russian guests.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience on the TripAdvisor website although we are sorry to read that you did not find your stay to be perfect. I was quite surprised by your comments as the indoor pool aluminium structure has just been reconstructed so I believe that the ‘leaks’ you speak of were merely condensation. You may also be pleased to know that our direct rates, whether via our reservations department or on our website, do include free business internet connection. We are also proud to offer all guest free WiFi in the lobby and bar area. Also our breakfast buffet has always been highly praised by our guests. I do wonder what you would like to see on the buffet that we have not already included. If you have some suggestions, please do email us directly. We currently offer a wide selection of bread, croissants, cereal, yoghurts, ham, cheeses, fruits, cooked breakfast, eggs, beans, potatoes, pastries, dried fruit, and much more. Finally, I am sorry but I am not sure who you mean by ‘Elianis’? I will look into who this may be and thank you in the meantime for your compliments towards Sasha. We welcome all our guests from all over the world and are so sorry that you felt there was any kind of favoritism towards any other culture. This is certainly not our standard practise. We hope to have the chance to one day welcome you back and are delighted that you had the opportunity to enjoy all our resort has to offer at the special low rates afforded to our clients in March which is a ‘low’ season month. Our best regards,

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Just returned from our 4th stay here. As usual the staff were excellent and a special mention to new barman Christo who was a delight. The room was clean and comfortable, but are now starting to look tired. Food this time round was better than before, lots of choice and always hot, grounds even this time of the year were very well kept.
So why only a 3 rating? Well we are couple in late 50's,children off hand and both still working in stressful jobs. We choose to use our annual leave by having 3 or 4, 1 week holidays throughout the year staying in 5 star establishments where we hope to be staying with similar minded clientele. This has proved the case on our 3 previous visits to St Raphael. unfortunately this time our stay coinsided with the end of the Limassol Carnival celebrations and a public holiday in Cyprus. The hotel was quiet and the management had advertised local cheap weekend carnival breaks for local residents. On Saturday more than 200 local cypriot people arrived and their behaviour was appalling. In the restaurents the adults thought it acceptable to shout across the tables at each other, that was when they weran't shouting loudly into their mobile phones! The children were allowed to treat the restaurent areas as playgrounds, running around screaming at the tops of their voices and banging into tables. There was no attempt to queue for food at the buffet, just barge straight in. Unfortunately the restaurent managers did nothing to control this and in fact on the second morning, we didn't even bother with breakfast as we couldn't face the noise and constantly being pushed around at the buffets. The Captains Bar is the only area in the hotel that is designated as 'adults only'. On Sunday afternoon after the carnival the cypriot people descended on the bar with children in tow. Within a few minutes they had reorganised the furniture and the children were running about screaming and shouting. In fairness to the bar manager, he did remind them that children were not allowed in the bar but was told that they had paid thier money and would go where they liked. We were so incensed they we asked for the duty hotel manager to be called and he did also speak with them. He then told us that there was nothing he could do as 'they are cypriots and they don't obey rules or like being told what to do'.
Whilst I can appreciate that in these difficult times the management must try to attract customers to the hotel, I do believe that on this occasion they badly let down their overseas guests who had after all paid a premium rate to stay in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately for the 48 hours of the local guests stay it more resembled a busy branch of McDonalds on a saturday afternoon! When you stay herre you expect a certain standard of behaviour from all residents and this should have been unheld by the management, but sadly it was not.
Would we stay again - probably, as we like the hotel and the staff and love the location. However, we would not confirm another out of season stay without first checking with the hotel that our visit did not coinside with any cheap local weekend packages.

Dear Essex Family,

Many thanks for your review and for letting us be of service to you for a fourth visit to our award winning property. We are so sorry to read that you did not enjoy the Limassol Carnival Celebrations and felt that the local clientele were not ‘up to standard’. I would just like to point out that we did not advertise low rates to get anyone in the hotel at that time, our rates were our normal March rates of €130 per night for BB and the clients who booked cannot therefore be considered ‘cheap’ clients. As a culture, the locals are quite outspoken and boisterous but this is normally considered an asset to the country as they are also very friendly. I am so sorry that you did not feel this way. Carnival (and subsequently our Easter) falls very late this year and hence it was in March – usually it is in February time. Please do feel free to check with us next time you wish to visit, if you would like to avoid this time. I hope that at least you did see a little of the carnival parades, parties and fun fancy dress that goes on in the island, but I do understand if this is not your cup of tea. In general, the Limassol Carnival is a time that families and children do adore so if people do not wish to be around many children, it is best to avoid this one weekend of the season. Sending you our warmest regards and do hope to welcome you back for your fifth visit to out establishment where we always aim to please. Kind regards,

I like the extra set of sliding doors in the room which prob made things quieter. Big bathroom, large balcony. Very spacious room. Overall impression was clean. Captain's bar in the lobby was cute and cosy. There is a happy hour early evening it's worthwhile to double check what time that is. The gym downstairs was adequate. There is an indoor pool as well which I didn't try but it looked ok despite being on the small side. Staff fairly friendly. The wifi in the lobby is quite fast, got that free for my package not sure if it is free for everyone. You have access to the beach/coast direct from the hotel. Cross the road from the hotel, not difficult, there are shops and sandwich shops close by. Embers which a lot of my friends go with generally favourable reports. Plus-Sea restaurant about 1 km to the right of the hotel, as you face the hotel, was atmospheric and food was classy and reasonable.

Don't like: the exterior of the hotel is not exactly inspiring but it does get better after you enter. The fabric cushions which hangs in front of the headboard looked a bit dicey. A heart stopping - but not poisonous looking insect on the wall unsettled me for a moment, I let it live because it disappeared quickly.

Summary nice hotel for a family holiday with kids. (Saw a couple of families with happy kids - sweet)

Room Tip: Ask for sea facing, some reports of noise from the side road. If your room is close enough to the l...

Great position close to sea and the long board walk on the beach edge. Beautifully well kept gardens. Friendly staff. Good food and plenty of it, whether in hotel or room service. Sit on the captains terrace and have iced coffee whilst watching the marina and magnificent ocean views. Comfy beds, clean rooms, good hot water supply. Cleaned and restocked everyday with lots of towels and bathrobes. Excellent pool although closed on my trip....bit cold anyway for swimming! Just a short walk and you can catch a bus into town the no 30. Great old place with cafes and bars. Definitely coming back soon.

Room Tip: Try and get a top floor suite or sea view room. If not the rooms on the right a separate block joine...

We booked a mid-March all-inclusive package with British Airways and had a wonderful time at the St Raphael. We had the hotel almost to ourselves (the Russian Olympic rifle team was also in the hotel but they were polite and quiet), the weather was fair (13-17 C) but the indoor pool, friendly, food, and especially Serge in the Kid's Club were awesome. We took the direct and easy bus service into Limassol and saw the Castle, the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit and the kids played at the playground on the strand in town. My wife needs a gluten-free diet and the staff was very accommodating. The all-inclusive package included the kid's club, all meals (excellent selections and a Cypriot night too!), most drinks (soft drinks and rail alcohol). We will definitely go again for the off-peak 1 week school term breaks. We can't enough good things about Serge in the Kid's Club - the children ran each morning to the club.

Room Tip: The executive wing has the kid's beds across from the bathroom *and* the door closes between the...
