Have just returned from this hotel, but stayed in the time share appartments which were very clean and ideal for my wife myself and grandson. Nothing was to much trouble for the excellent staff especialy the penguin club for children and the great entertainment team who seemed to work all day. and still put on great shows at night. All facilities are excellent, the only down side we found was the soft drinks and ice ceams were very expensive, also alchoholic drinks were over priced. Apart from this this complex is second to none

We were visiting our daughter who lives at Akrotiri, so we have been to Cyprus before. The Meridien is the best hotel we have used in Cyprus and found that decor, rooms, bathrooms etc., were all in good clean condition. We saw no evidence during our 16 days of any creepy-crawlies in the room, and the standards of cleanliness were perfect.
Breakfasts were all you could wish for, and you could have a lovely table by the poolside overlooking the sea, quite splendid, anda wonderful way to start the day. All of the breakfast staff, with exception of female maitre D' (an extra from the SS) were friendly and very efficient.
Lunch by the pool was good, but really one meal between two is adequate, and the Japanese and A La Carte restaurants were first class.
My only grumble about the place is not the Hoteliers fault, but generally the usually british parents of children who are allowed to run wild with no care for other guests, but LeMeridien is not alone there these days I'm afraid.
All in all a wonderful hotel that I would consider using on my next visit to Cyprus.

This is a brilliant hotel if you have kids. The pool has its own slide and there is an extensive children's entertainment programme. There are tennis courts and a football pitch and sessions are arranged for kids on an informal basis by a resident coach. There is even a bowling alley and arcarde games. All this is discretely kept away from the main hotel in a separate building so that guests without children can enjoy the hotel too.

The hotel also offers villas in the grounds which are perfect for families and they are only a short walk to the main hotel. There is a wide choice of restaurants too. Sadly we won't go back because we love the beach and although technically there is a beach there it is AWFUL! I can't understand how such a high class hotel with perfectly manicured gardens can let them end at a muddy, dirty strip of gravel/sand. If they could only dump a few tons of sand on top this hotel would be perfect.

July 2005 - 1 week stay.
We have stayed in many luxury resorts around the world and we felt that Le Meridien was far too expensive for what it offered. The accommodation, food and spa were all very very overpriced.

Accommodation
We stayed in the Spa Wing of the hotel which offered a fair sized room although it lacked atmosphere. The bed was hard as a rock which gave me more back trouble than it was worth!

Hotel Decor
The overall decor of the hotel was disappointing .... it had a very 1980's look and feel about it. I think it is in need of redecorating to bring it up to the decor standards of today. Having said this, it was very clean everywhere.

Food
Every meal we had at the hotel was very tasty although it was very expensive! There was a great choice of restaurants at the hotel but because there is such a wide choice, it meant that many of the restaurants were half empty in the evenings and this was suppose to be peak holiday time!

Spa
The spa treatments were very expensive but I do highly recommend a visit to the hydrotherapy pools which are amazing. This is meant to be one of the best spas in the world but having been to numerous luxury spas, I wouldnt go as far as to say this about the Spa at Le Meridien. I would call it average at best.

Service
The service at Le Meridien was very good ... actually it was one of the highlights of the trip. Most of the staff were very attentive and even went so far as to take it upon themselves to surprise us with a birthday cake in our room as it was my birthday. I thought that was a very nice personal touch.

Beach and Pool
There are a number of pools to enjoy and most importantly a "no children allowed" pool for those seeking peace and tranquility although I noticed children in that pool on various occasions. The beach at the hotel was very disappointing - the sand was dark and "muddy-like" in appearance and the water was filled with large boulders which I think would make for trecherous swimming if there are waves coming in. From what we observed, most people just sit by the numerous pools.

Overall, we werent impressed with Cyprus in general, the hotel less so. As there are so many other lovely places to visit, we won't be going back to Cyprus or Le Meridien anytime in the future.
