This was my first visit to Cyprus all the way from the United States. I must say I was most impressed! I am a frequent Starwood cardholder, and Le Meridien Cyprus is by far the best Meridien I have ever been too. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself is huge, and luscious, with privacy being a key driver. In addition, the food in this hotel is some of the best I’ve ever had. One must only try the Italian and Japanese restaurants in the hotel to be blown away. The Japanese cuisine served at Kojima is even better than that of Buddakan in New York in my opinion. I’m sure my guests who accompanied me for dinner would also agree. The ambiance in Kojima is also very romantic and serene.
I stayed in the Imperial corner suite which was newly renovated, and located on the second floor. The bed, living area, and dining area are so meticulously arranged that even the smallest details don’t go unnoticed…. The scent of the suite is so refreshing and unique, that if I were to ever smell a similar scent again, I will always be reminded of the Imperial suite at Le Meridien Cyprus. The room is very spacious, and well worth the price. It also comes equipped with amenities like a coffee maker, and a library area which is very impressive.
I was offered a free Thalassotherapy session in the spa that was a most relaxing and rejuvenating experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to pamper themselves. And even if you don’t pick Thalassotherapy, the spa has a wide selection of other therapeutic treatments to choose from.
Probably the biggest surprise of my trip was the fireworks. The hotel hosted a wonderful fireworks display that lasted over 15 minutes. All the guests of the hotel were pleasantly surprised. The vibrant colors and passion of the fireworks were incredible. People were saying that this was the biggest firework show in Cyprus’ history, and we were so fortunate to be part of this experience. That same night the hotel hosted a wonderful event for the guests, followed by a very entertaining musical performance by a foreign pop star. It is not uncommon to walk around the hotel and bump into some famous celebrities. While we were at the concert, I could have sworn I saw Brian Adams in the crowd. Our friends who also attended confirmed that they saw him too. Jean Paul Gautier has been known to visit the hotel, and has even signed the signed the guest book.
Without hesitation I can say that Le Meridien Cyprus is well worth visiting. I would recommend it to anyone from the US that wants to travel to Europe, and experience the best of what the Mediterranean has to offer. And if you happen be a Starwood cardholder, even better, because you would be eligible to numerous perks and discounts.
I most certainly plan on returning to Le Meridien Cyprus in the near future, but this time I plan to bring a group of my American friends…. So for this world traveler it is time to bid farewell to Mykonos, and hello Limassol Cyprus!!
