We used to visit this restaurant when it was "Krateon" and had heard it had changed hands and become a Syrian restaurant so were interested to try it. We were not disappointed - housed in a beautiful building this restaurant has retained its original charm. We dined early evening in December so it was empty; however our family visited last Summer and sat outside in the garden area where it was packed - bookings advisable and do take insect spray as there were lots of bugs flying around.
We ordered several dips as starters (try "Shawander" a delicious beetroot creamy dip) and the tasty "sodat dejaj" (chicken livers). Having lived in the Middle East for many years we found the food to be of the same high quality here in Cyprus. Recommended - "Shish Tawouk" (grilled, marinated boneless chicken) which was excellent. We supped a full bodied red wine (Agios Onoufrios) which at €16 was good value.
Waitress was friendly and helpful. All in all, a great evening - will definitely be visiting Sawa again in the near future.
