A couple of weeks ago I returned from a 20 day trip to Cyprus and I spent more than a week in Larnaca.
People who plan visiting this specific area of the Makenzi should avoid it until works finish.

You see, there is dust and noise and the Piale Pasa Street is under construction at the moment. Works are in full progress however and I believe by the end of spring the area will be back to normal and it will be amazingly beautiful.

Avoid hotels in this area at the moment. Unfortunately some restaurants remain open but in some parts the road is dug making it difficult to cross the street even on foot.

Hotels which are towards the coast normally should not accept guests but tourist who are there now I am sure they will not be that satisfied. It is not the area which is to blame, but it is the works that are to blame.

I truly look forward to see how the place will look like after works have finished. Those who will book a hotel in that area will be lucky then but not now! I believe their Travel Agents ought to let these people know how the situation is right now.

Maybe I was expecting more, or maybe has to do with the low season, but the Makenzy beach did not completely matched my expectations.
The san dis not what you're used to get in other mediterranean locations, the quality of service seems to be tired, although present. The choice of backdrop restaurants and cafè satisfying, and prices balanced and not too overcharged.
The proximity with LCA airport makes this beach a good base for a late sunbath before flying out, or as a pit stop before moving to fancier sites on the island.

The sea and beach here is the nicest in the Larnaca Airport. There is frequent low flying aircarft noise throughout the day as it backs on the the main airport in Cyprus

Although Mckenzie beach has been popular since the 80's, it has now been completely transformed and turned into a hip-chic spot with trendy restaurants and bars. One of the most popular beaches in Cyprus attracting both families and young couples.
