“a holy place for pilgrims and those interested in historical sites”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

The mosque is an easy drive from Larnaca town centre or there are various tour buses that go there. The mosque is on the edge of a massive salt lake, and sits within palm fringed gardens. As you enter the grounds the first thing you notice is the cats, and I dont mean one or two, I think I counted around 20 or more. Cute if you are a cat lover like me, but for others possible a little annoying. The entrance is via an arched doorway and you have to remind yourself that it is a place of worship not just a tourist site. Architecture is not stunning in any way the stonework is well preserved but no great masonry to talk of. Down various stakes and passageways amongst olive, pommegranate, citrus trees and date palms leads to the mosque itself, You are required to remove your shoes to enter otherwise there is no objection to non-muslims entering. It is a quiet place, quite austere but there is something of reverence about the interior. No attempt has been made to put up placards for the tourist a further reminder that this is a holy place for muslims where the Prophet Mohamed's auntie is supposed to be buried there.

Down a passage away from the mosque there is an earlier site of what looks to be something from the bronze age but again there is no placard to explain what it is.

“Interesting and historic building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We were very lucky to arrive as a free lunch was being served to all visitors! It was an interesting building and some historic foundations below. Very peaceful place too with wonderful views over the salt lake.

“Enjoyable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Lovely area, especially if coupled with salt lake but only takes an hour or so . More interesting to people religious I guess but wouldn't keep children interested for long.

“Hala Sultan Tekke.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

A very special place indeed . Having been to see Lazarus Church one day -and coming to Hala Sultan the next you will have some difficulty finding words, its an experience. My best advice is to take a local bus (goes from the Lazarus Church),jump of after passing the airport, and walk along the salt-sea,not more than 2-3 km. The tourist information office (next to the Marina) gives you everything you need.

Lovely area but can't really recommend it to anyone unless someone want's to see how a mosque looks like.
