“Remarkable Church of Lazarus (account of Lazarus in John 11)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Beautiful Byzantine church with the tomb of Lazarus (account of his healing found in John 11) under the sanctuary. Very biblical and historical church. Services are still being held, and we happen to witness a meaningful baptism service here.

Even the exterior of the church is remarkable with its arches. Must visit!

“An interesting place to visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

We first visited this church over 30yrs ago when it was just a run down place, over the years we have seen it improve, we have also attended a friends wedding here, it is like most things in Cyprus that have been improved as tourism grows.?????

“One of the most important Byzantine Monuments in Cyprus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

A stone build church, in the center of Larnaka which was built in aroun 900 by Byzantine Emperor Leo VI, the Wise, on the resting place of St. Lazarus whose tomb lies under the sanctuary and can be visited. An ecclesiastical museum in the yard of the church exhibits valuable relics and icons.
