“excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

I highly recommend this hotel. It is right in the centre of Larnaca, best location. Walking distance to many cafes and restaurants, and the beach. Recently renovated, clean and modern rooms. We had a free upgrade to a room with sea view overlooking the marina. The cafe of the hotel offers a variety of food and in good prices. e.g i had a chicken wrap with wedges for just 6.50euro! Breakfast was included and it was good, it had everything i eat. (toast, cheese, ham, eggs, cornflakes) along with potatoes, sausage, croissants. I have seen richer breakfast buffets but for me it was perfect. Overall, very good hotel, not so cheap, but great if you are looking for a hotel that is close to everything and dont need transportation to go to the beach or find something to eat.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have better sea views and are quieter

Tavelling with my daughter, the waffels with chocklate at the reception cafe was the highlight. The staff are friendly and helpful, however, they did not have any relations to babysitters for my daugter during the meetings I was attending at the hotel. Light and friendly breakfast hall with a view of the beach. The beach is just across the street. For families, the entrance is facing a square that is a nice and safe place to run. There was also a small playfair just 200 meters down the road. there are plenty of cafes and restauranta just outside the hotel, so there are many options for lunch and dinner. March was a bit cold, but great to play with kites on the beach!

I recently made a reservation for a friend at Sun Hall Hotel. In the past I wouldn't have thought about it, but having read the post-renovation reviews and visiting the hotel in person to see the rooms, decided that it would be a good choice. And I was not wrong. As mentioned, the hotel has undergone some major renovation / facelift. The rooms, while not very big, are comfortable, modern and clean. I reserved a room on the last floor with an amazing view of the sea. It was extremely enjoyable to sit on the balcony and look at the reflection of the moon in the sea. Staff was efficient and polite. The hotel's location is the best in Larnaca, overlooking the palm-tree line promenade, about 100 meters from the beach and right next to an array of cafes, restaurants, pubs and so on. In addition, it is quite, allowing the guest to have a good night's sleep. I definitely recommend this hotel and suggest that you go for the sea-view rooms.

Room Tip: Get a sea-view room on one of the higher floors.

The spacious bedrooms and compact bathroom were very modern, clean and comfortable. Double rooms are twins, not double beds, but two single beds next to each other. Housekeeping is erratic, eg one day they did our room, but forgot to make the beds.
Visited twice. On the first occasion I was underwhelmed by the lacklustre customer service and deeply disturbed every night by people moving around and talking in the hotel between 03.00 & 04.30. I reluctantly returned for a second visit, fortunately everything was much better (but no soap in the bathroom!). A good choice of food at buffet breakfasts are served in a function room with a pleasant sea view outlook. There are two customer lifts, we knew we were on the right level by the shape of the stain on the corridor carpet.
Lower level inland view rooms overlook the tatty roof of a derelict building. Side sea views are of a large public space and buildings with the docks in the background. Sea view rooms are good; overlooking a one way street and start of the palm lined promenade, the marina filled with pleasure craft and trip boats, as well as the end of a sandy beach.
The Finikoudes bus stop in Athens Avenue in front of the hotel is the terminus for very reasonably priced intercity buses. Great for exploring Nicosia etc. It is also possible to catch airport buses to/from here. Taxi depot and car hire in an adjacent side street (turn left out of reception). I felt that this hotel is expensive, but this is because it is located in the most exclusive part of Larnaca. Coffee costs 3 euro in the spacious open plan bar/cafe/reception area, but you do get free wi fi here.

Room Tip: If you have an inland room opt for a high floor where you may get a better view, better still book a...

Six of us had three rooms overnight on 25th Feb 2012. As other people have said, the rooms are very modern and very clean. We had a huge room which was probably a family one as it had an interconnecting door. We overlooked the town which was fine as we got a deal through LateRooms and seaviews weren't an option but as we live in Cyprus and we were only staying the one night, it wasn't important. We were there to celebrate a birthday and an wedding anniversary.
Check in was ok although there was a bit of an issue about us showing our passports but once we made it clear that we hadn't flown in from the UK, we were given our room keys.
The rooms have a safe and air con and plenty of wardrobe space etc. The bathrooms were fresh and the usual basic toiletries are provided. We had bath towels and pool towels in the bathroom.
We didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast. This is a self service affair and perfectly adequate and for 7 euros in a hotel on the seafront, very good value for money.
The only reason I rated this as hotel as very good and not excellent, is due to the service in the bar. It was sooo slow and the three times we used it, we had to chase up the bar staff. There were hardly any other people in it, so there was no excuse. They forgot one of our drinks on the first round. If you have six people and only five drinks you would think someone would have noticed, but no. The drinks were places and the waitress walked away. We had to go up to the bar to tell her that we were a drink short. Neither was there any smiles! This morning we after we checked out and put our bags in the car, we returned and sat outside the hotel for a coffee. After five minutes, we gave up and moved to the cafe next door, where the staff were quick to serve us and with smiles all round.
If the Sun Hall Hotel can address and focus on Customer Service, this would be an excellent hotel. To end on a high note. It is perfectly placed for the promenade and there are loads of cafes and restaurants catering for an assortment of different tastes to choose from.
We would go there again.

I stayed on business, the hotel check in was effortless despite checking in after 11.30pm. My room was located on the fourth floor and was 'land facing'. The room was spotlessly clean and the decor modern. The room was spacious and I slept really well. The shower is located within the bath which can be a nuisance but no biggie. The view although land facing took in the distant Troodos mountains and there was a balcony.

The breakfast is an average affair, eggs were a little rubbery, the fruit juice comes from a vending machine but the staff are friendly and the breakfast is served at the front of the hotel with a view of the sea.

The local vicinity is full of wonderful places to eat and drinkmand a stones throw from the beach. This time of year it was quiet but I imagine itnwould be quite vibrant during the season.

We didn't use the pool and to be honest it isn't signed so wouldn't know where it was!

The bar serves drinks until 1am but whe we satbdown for a glass of wine after a long day the girls behind the bar started packing up at 12. We also had to request a couple of beersbwere topped up to the correct level, but this was done without quibble.

All I all a pleasant hotel in a good location. No parking though.
