This is a good holiday hotel. It is not 5* by any stretch of the imagination, but on balance, it has more pros than cons. The sandy beach whilst we were there consisted of a scubby patch of compacted turgid coloured sand, probably no more than 2 meters wide in some places. The pool and lounging areas are very nice and the Beach Boys look after you very well. Rooms are not the largest, but they are adequate and fairly decently furnished although I'd have thought flat screen TV's would have been standard these days but we just had an old fashioned model. The carpet was ripped by one of our balcony doors, and the knob that operates the plug in the wash basin was missing which meant prising the plug out with our fingernails. The pillows are definitely the lumpiest I have ever had the misfortune to put my head upon! They charge for internet access in rooms which would stop me using it for business - it's all these little things that turns a good hotel into a great hotel. Staff are generally very pleasant and helpful - with a mention of Marianna on the Front Desk - very professional and helpful, she definitely could be working in a 5* establishment.
We had an a la carte meal in the restaurant one evening which was good if a bit on the expensive side. Otherwise it's the ubiquitous buffet which I'm sorry to say is a pet hate of mine - with people handling the food, sneezing and coughing all over it. The staff hygiene may well be great but who knows about your fellow guests? Breakfast is also buffet style but the turnaround is very rapid and supplies are replenished on a continuous basis, with a good variety of hot & cold dishes. The cleanliness of all areas including the rooms was excellent.
There's a few restaurants, bars and supermarkets outside the hotel on the main road - be wary of the fish restaurant, it was the worst and most overpriced meal we had in Cyprus.A few frozen shrimps, a pile of shredded lettuce, half a tomato and 4 slices of cucumber made up their shrimp salad which cost 12 euros. Vettriano's Italian was a good choice - varied menu, good service and complimentary bits & pieces like fresh fruit and olives. Huge portion of Kleftiko served in individual pot with lots of potatoes and veg for 12 euros put the fish place to shame.
All in all a pleasant hotel that with a bit more attention to detail would have persuaded me to give it a higher rating.
