I stayed at this hotel twice in June - each time for a week - both times for work, but I extended my stay throgh the weekends to get a bit of sun. By the end of my second trip there, I was so ready to leave the hotel that I actually tried to look into flying home a day early.
Main issues that soured my experience:
-- There were ants in the buffet dessert section
-- My air conditioning stopped working for about 3 hours
-- The power went off for about 2 hours
-- I ordered room service and when it arrived, they had brought me two dinners rather than 1 - I explained that there must be a mistake and they said, "No, it's your fault." Eventually we talked it through and they took one away - but I did not appreciate their tone at all.
-- There is an outside little bar/cafe and I was trying to understand the flavors they had on offer for an icey drink.. when I was not understanding because the two ladies were actually saying different flavors, I tried to clarify and one lady, clearly must have been stressed from something else, screamed at me the flavors... i actually backed away from the bar because I was so taken back by it.
-- I tried to get a charge removed from my bill that should not have been there (was being double charged) and had to talk to 4 different people at the desk- none of whom could actually help me as they said that they would have to ask the manager and could do nothing about it themselves... this manager seemed to be a phantom as I also asked to speak to him at the end of my trip and they said he was very hard to find.
All of the above and a few other smaller examples really soured my experience.. My colleagues who live in Cyprus also said that it was a "joke of a hotel" and that I really wasn't seeing what Cyprus was all about by staying there... So next time, I will stay elsewhere and avoid all of these negative experiences I had for the two weeks I was there this June.
