My partner and I just returned from a week at Palm Beach Hotel. To begin with we very disappointed to find that Expedia had messed up our booking, and although we had a booked a package which got us into Cyprus around 4 a.m., the hotel staff at Palm Beach made us pay for an extra half-day's accomodation inspite of the fact that expedia had promised us we could check in early, and our room was not occupied by anyone else at the time.

Although we got off to a bad start, the hotel room was very clean and comfortable, the only minus being the absence of tea-making facilities. The breakfast was fantastic with a big selection of hot and cold food. The gym was on the small side but with good, up to date equipment and there were indoor and outdoor swimming pools plus sauna, jacuzzi, table tennis and a creche if you have children. The beach was fairly narrow but nice, and you could walk or jog along the seafront. It's a good base for couples and for families. There are lots of restaurants nearby, with a good Indian and a Mexican place if you get tired of Cypriot food. It is a short distance by car from the centre of Larnaca so I would recommend that you hire a car unless you are happy to stay in the hotel the whole time. Places like Ayia Napa and Nicosia are only a half hour drive away if you fancy a change of scene. All in all, nothing out of this world, but very comfortable and a great base from which to explore Cyprus. I would definitely stay here again.

I am frankly amazed at the positive reviews on this site.

To begin with the hotel location is nothing to be desired - what with being framed in by a container terminal on the right of the bay and a power station on the left.

The group of friends I went with took various room types from the ordinary double to the suites, with two couples in the the bungalow "presidential" suite which was everything but "presidential" in drab colours with tired fabrics. Not to mention the cockroach residents who had to be evicted on the first day.

The room i was in had plastic underneath the exceptionally uncomfortable bed and a dubious brown stain on the carpet just outside the baththroom - which I complained about and nothing was done.

The pool area is borderline acceptable as is the food (the bungalow pool is much better - but the food took forever to arrive; even the waiter was embarassed).

To summarise my view of this hotel, my uni friends whom I had not seen in years and was eagerly looking forward to seeing refused to come over to spend the day but rather whisked me off to a far different location.

So do yourselves a favour - save your money and go somewhere else.

Having read recent reviews about this hotel we went on the basis that most were good.
We weren’t disappointed notwithstanding the couple of somewhat negative reviews we also took into account (we are not saying they were incorrect in every aspect). We can’t speak for the bungalows obviously, not having stayed in one. Basically, it does what it says on the box but do keep in mind that the website is geared up for the full range of services, amenities, activities etc that are operational/available for the summer season. We were there for the Christmas week so didn’t expect everywhere and everything to be open and running. The Hotel’s Christmas itinerary was impressive but we can’t comment because we didn’t participate/partake in it apart from the Christmas Eve complimentary Champagne reception and carol singing by some talented youngsters. Very nice. We did bed & breakfast because we only use a hotel as a base to travel. We did 1300km the week we were there. We totally support the views on the breakfast buffet. Everything all but the fussiest of punters could want, hot or cold. An excellent start to the day. We didn’t do lunch or dinner at the hotel because we didn’t want to be tied to fixed times/arrangements so regrettably can’t comment on that score. We agree with the comments regarding the ‘fish & chips’ at Cessac beach being the best on the Island!
Our sea view room was clean and tidy, a tad small but functional and comfortable (we like firm beds!). The bathroom was rather cramped, but again clean, well equipped and functional. The balcony was also very small. Maid service/clean towels daily. A hair dryer and minibar in the room made the omission of coffee/tea making facilities odd and regrettable for this standard of hotel. The gym had excellent equipment along with an indoor pool and Jacuzzi/steam room.
We considered the drinks were a little expensive if you chose to spend time in the Adelphi lounge or Piano Bar for your tipple. The staff we had contact with we found to be friendly and helpful.
We hired a car online (Carjet) that we picked up at Paphos airport and drove the 130km to Larnaca in 1 and a half hours. Motorway all the way 100/120kph. and ample parking facilities at the hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return there.
I've only rated 'neutral' because of the room sizing and lack of coffee making facilities in the room plus to be 'above average' there has to be something exceptional (over and above) to that expected from the hotel rating.
