I have visited the Archontiko on several occasions for dinner, especially for celebrations or romantic dinners. It is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The food is a contemporary but classical twist on the typical Cypriot palate. Everything you expect to be there is there, but brought together in a way that perhaps only the Archontiko could pull off. Example, grilled haloumi cheese in sesame seeds with a koumantaria sauce. Truly exquisite. The wine is exclusively Cypriot, and though I am not big on wine, it could turn a man. The Archontiko also boasts a member of staff specifically for choosing wine. Although he is a bit of a snob (I'll drink mud if I like mud!), he can offer some good advice, though not without the attitude. I enjoy rude staff as I find it charming when done right, but it seems as if a stuck up attitude is promoted in this restaurant. If you can ignore this, or bear it, Archontiko is a fantastic place to visit. The food is truly unmissable and unique and the koumantaria that is served to top off the meal is one of the finest I have ever tasted. If Michelin ever decides to make their way to our little island, Archontiko will without a doubt be on the receiving end of a star.
