After reading the great reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to make Eleonora our “home away from home” during our two-week holiday in Larnaca. After checking the usual hotel booking sites, I contacted the hotel personally and got a much better deal directly from them.
The hotel is located in the center of everything, close to shops, restaurants and, most importantly, the beach! Just a 5-7 minute walk will get you there and the part of the beach where Eleonora offers free sunbeds and beach umbrellas is the best part which is not as crowded as the others and close to the public toilets and snack facilities.
We arrived/left in the middle of the night, but it was possible to book inexpensive transfers on-line and as the hotel has 24-hours reception, a quick and easy check-in was not a problem.
All I can say is that they are all friendly, helpful and very service-minded. I had many contacts with them before our arrival and every e-mail was answered quickly. Natalia, Natasha and Marina in the reception area were always willing to help out and almost felt like family by the time we left. Kristina, our cleaner was absolutely exceptional and very flexible when we wanted to stay a little longer in our room.
We had a two room apartment (602) with great views in three directions. It was simply furnished and decorated in Cypriot style and VERY comfortable. The tile floors were always immaculately clean. The kitchen area was well-equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster and water kettle. There was adequate dinnerware, glassware and flatware for all of us. Pots and pans and cooking utensils were also provided
The sitting room area had a round table and 4 chairs, a sofa, coffee table and an armchair. There was also a flat-screen tv which was nice, but we had no time to use it. You could access the balcony from both the sitting room and the bedroom. There was plenty of storage/drawer space in the kitchen cupboards, the large wardrobe and in the bedroom. The luggage table in the sitting room area was a very useful touch. The air-conditioning worked like a charm and was necessary when the daytime temperatures got a little to warm.
The furnishings were typical hotel style in beech wood. The bed was two singles pushed together, which made it quite wide. There was a reading lamp on each side of the bed with the controls in the center of the headboard, which was very convenient. There were always fresh white sheets and comfortable pillows. In the room there was also a long dressing table with drawers besides the bedside tables and the large mirror above it was great for doing oneself up before going out in the evenings.
My only gripe (a small one) was that the bed was too firm for my liking, but my husband thought it was fine. This is a matter of taste and did not effect the overall experience or the hotel rating.
The bathroom was fully tiled, of a good size and had modern fixtures. Allways immaculately cleaned. The shower stall was spacious and there was plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Please remember that toilet paper should not be flushed down the toilet and is put in a bin beside the toilet. We found it useful to bring both baby wipes and disposable nappy sacks to ease this inconvenience. The amenities in the bathroom were refreshed every day and the towels changed every few days. There was no hair dryer in our room, but one could borrow one any time from the reception. If you forget your electrical plug converter you can also borrow one in the reception.
Our room had an enormous, glass-fronted balcony which had beautiful views in three directions. We sat outside every morning for breakfast and in the evenings for a glass of wine before dinner. It was truly an enjoyable experience and because we were pretty high up, we didn’t get the noise from the street below and there was always a nice breeze. One fun thing was that we could watch the planes take off and land from our balcony. We also had a drying rack for our laundry.
Eleonora has a self-service laundry facility which is great for those who are staying a little longer. The washing machines and dryer are inexpensive (€2) and get the job done quickly. You can hang your laundry on the drying racks on your balcony and can borrow an iron/ironing board in the reception.
There is a private parking lot behind the hotel for those who need to park a car.
Cold drinks and water can be bought in the reception area. A 6x2 liters of bottled drinking water only costs €2.50, so you don’t have to carry water home from the market.
There is a market area (Smart + several more) within a few minutes walk from the hotel. Here, you can buy just about anything you would need such as dry goods, drinks, hygiene articles, meats and dairy, deli items and fresh fruit. There is no need to travel to a larger grocery store outside the city center.
As you can tell, we had a marvelous time in Larnaca and would go back again if we had the chance. Thank you Eleonora Hotel Apartments for the pleasure of sharing your warm hospitality!
