I am from Ireland. Passing by this hotel and saw it was FIVE Star and had never stayed in a five star before so decided i would enquire about price etc. Went in and was quoted €167 for B & B. Lobby looked well, so decided to go with it.
Room was adequate,could do with a bit of upgrading for a FIVE Star hotel, but the view, which was said to be "Side Sea View" - well it was looking into the hotel next door, and the sea was on the side alright, and the balcony could not be used as it was FULL of bird droppings. Not 5 star standard. Those "Bird Droppings rooms should not be let for a five star hotel or at least for the full price of €167. They should be half price specials.
Room did not have adequate towels, we were left short, and the fridge/mini bar did NOT work. We were disappointed when we returned to the room at midnight to discover that it wasnt even plugged in. We plugged it in and in the morning opted for a juice from the fridge but discovered that it was not working - everything was hot in it. NOT 5 Star Standard.
Breakfast was Buffet and it was very good. Plenty of everything.
Beach in this hotel is not great. Needs a lot of attention i.e cleaning, tidying up etc.
This hotel is NOT a Resort hotel. The sites beside it are derilect and maybe one day there will be other businesses there but not at the moment. The road is very busy that the hotel is on and it difficutl to cross the road. Drivers in Cyprus do not respect other drivers never mind pedestrians trying to cross the road.
Will not return here. Have stayed in better 4 star hotels. This hotel needs to have its star rating reviewed whoever does this.

I would not give this hotel a 5 star rating ... maybe 3 plus. There are so many areas of the hotel which needs great improvement. Our first impression as we walked into the hotel was of an empty warehouse - The reception is situated at the side so all you could see was a huge area with bright red seating but with no character of a 5 star establishment. There was no 'wow' as you walked in ... The staff were friendly and spoke good english. We booked a mini suite which was a great disappointment - the room was no bigger than a standard room - the patio area was dirty, the jaccuzzi was empty with remains of a dead bird and during the week we found ants nest in our bathroom - not a good start, however the management tried their best to resolve our complaint very promptly. We went half board and to our surprise the food was very nice, although saying that most evenings the restaurant was empty with only a handful of guests dining .... they need evening entertainment - there was nothing - most nights we would retire to our room by 8.30. The daytime was not any better - the outdoor pool was clean but freezing, indoor pool was ok fairly warm but can do we some maintenance work - my son cut himself on the uneven tiles and the staff blamed him for running..! Again their was no type of activities during the day - no kids club not even music - lunch time service was very poor - the poolside bar was closed and if you wanted a drink or order food you had to chase the waiters ... The hotel really does need to improve it's standard - I've been to many 5 star hotels and this does not match a 5 star rating.

I have just stayed at this Hotel for 1 night whilst visiting the Larnaca area and I must say I was dissapointed. I am used to 5* Hotels around the world and this one just does not compare. Although there was nothing major to complain about, the hotel lacked soul and had a number of let downs.

The reception area is poor for a Hotel of this class and resembled a youth club. The indoor heated pool was freezing far too cold to enjoy. The marble tiles around the pool were extremely slippy with an accident waiting to happen, and many were cracked badly. The on site shop was poorly stocked. The restaurant was depressing and the buffet dinner worse. We ended up ordering off the limited a la carte which was okay except my daughter found a hair in her Pasta.

As we were only staying one night, I booked the Presidential suite which although sizeable, nowhere near the standard you would expect from their top room. Badly fitted fittings, poor decorating, old looking, outside jacuzzi covered in dirt, fruit looking like it had been there for ages.

On the possitive side was the outside pool looked great and the beach was tidy.

If you have never been to a 5* Hotel before, you might think this is a great Hotel and award top marks. However, if you have been to any other one, you will be dissapointed that it does not match the brochure pictures and text and falls well short on expectations. This seems to be the best Hotel in the area - I suggest try a different location.

We have been staying at the Golden Bay for seven years now.

We spend in total one month of the year at the hotel, which has recently seen a number of improvements to the pool and restaurant areas. We normally have a short break in the spring and a longer one in the summer. We are a family of four with two young children.

Each year there is an increasing number of guests who return to the hotel on a regular basis.

The quality of the facilities and the service offered is extremely good. If you require something that is not listed on a menu, or does not appear to be available, just ask, it will normally be provided for you, or at least the staff will do their best to provide it for you.

The Hotel is situated on Larnaca Bay next to the Sandy Beach Hotel which itself is next to the Lordos Beach Hotel. (Both the Golden Bay and Lordos share the same owners). It is not the liveliest part of town; this is about ten minutes away by taxi. Although there are plenty of bars and restaurants across the road. The Hotel is ideal for a relaxed holiday either for families or couples wanting to get away from it all.

The food in each of the four restaurants is excellent, the flambes and weekend barbecues being particularly good.
