“Lives up to its Trip Advisor ratings!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Recently visited 3 times during a month-long stay in Larnaca and look forward to going again in warmer weather to enjoy views of St Lazarus Church from the splendid terrace. One of the occasions would appear to have been the same night as LDreviewer but we had a good table and could spectate the birthday party in full swing. The service was attentive, even on a busy evening, and the food was excellent on all 3 occasions. As a Cyprus regular, it was a welcome surprise to have several different dishes included in the excellent meze - and not a chip in sight! The cost was reasonable. Only slight downside seemed to be a regular who always had the table next the fire and spent the evening indulging in the local custom of shouting down his mobile phone. But hey, at least he wasn't on the train!

“Great dining & ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Went for a meal & were welcomed by some local diners after finshing eating who involved us in there company. Meal itself was very good & an excellent range of dishes, many quintessentially Cypriot available. The view from the terrace is sublime overlooking the illuminated St Lazarus church & square. The inside in winter reveals a fine log fire which even smells great. Ruturned for drinks next night & traditional bozouki music & singing were on & we were hauled up to dance with local people - great fun!

“Tourist trap - avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Taratsa looked very promising from the outside. We visited in February. There was a large party in the main part of the restaurant near the widely-advertised open fire and we had to sit in an annexe to the restaurant which had all the atmosphere of a church hall - ugly fire doors and bright lighting (no attempt was made to light the candles on the table). The food was mediocre and the house red wine was horrible - tasted like vinegar. Service was also poor. The proprietor kept emerging but was clearly only interested in the large party. The waiter was more interested in clearing and re-setting tables than serving us and although we had hoped to have a leisurely meal with a dessert we eventually gave up and summoned the bill. This place appears to be cashing in on its location and the views from its terrace and we felt frustrated that, given the many other good eating places in Larnaca, we had wasted an evening here.

“Great View and Service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

This centrally located eatery has the best view of the central plaza of Old Town Larnaca. They have a wood burning fireplace in the dining room if it's too chilly to sit out on the beautiful second floor tearrace. The service was super friendly and the food tasty. We ordered a number of appis (grilled stuffed peppers were tasty) and a main and it was all good. The grilled octopus was overcooked and chewy but the rest was decent. Go for the view and the meze and perhaps the fire, if you're a fan, which I am. Nice place to visit if you're in town.

“Great view, special place..!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We ate here in September.Be sure to try and get a table upstairs when the weather is warmer because the view of St.Lazarus church lit up is beautiful! We enjoyed our food, service was good. This is away from the tourist centre, only a few minutes walk to the right just before the fort on the promenade but worth finding as its a little different to the rest along the promenade!
