We booked this place for our silver wedding anniversary to chill out and relax. Nice house, lovely courtyard but management very lax about maintenance - we ran out of gas in the middle of cooking, which affected all the apartments and the whole hot water supply. Contacting the owners in this situation was difficult as the list of contact numbers had been overwritten so it was blurred and unreadable. One of the onwers never answered our calls, he tended to ignore messages and let the voicemail fill up; the other sometimes had to be called two or three times to get a response.
The fixtures and fittings were falling apart - my husband opened the shower curtain and the pole fell down on his head. We found it was just wedged between the walls - not even a telescopic pole. He got really fed up with trying to rehang a soaking wet curtain every time he had a shower. (I used the bath) The only thing stopping the bathroom light from falling off the wall was that one end was resting on the cabinet top. The toilet cistern was not fixed to the wall so we had to be careful when flushing as it wobbled and we were afraid it would fall and flood the floor.
Our bedroom curtain was partly hanging off the rings, it was much too small and only covered about two thirds of the window, so the guests sitting on their balcony across the courtyard could see directly onto our beds. Their balcony light shone into our room through the curtain gap so we had to keep the wardrobe door open to cover the gap, to get some privacy and sleep at night. The hinges on the wardrobe door were falling off as well. We found the dressing table was unstable as it had only three legs - the broken fourth leg was in the bedside cabinet.
It seemed if things got broken they were just dumped in odd places. We found a defunct TV concealed behind a curtain in our living room. The bracket for this TV was still sticking out of the bedroom wall. We found a defunct coffee maker shoved in the living room cupboard. Other junk was scattered around the courtyard. A piece of battening with long nails protruding was dumped on an air con box along with a collection of aluminium poles. The barbeque was heaped with plant prunings and surrounded by empty flowerpots, a childs chair dumped in the outside sink and a potentially useful outside toilet was another 'storage' area. The bin in the courtyard was full of more plant debris and building rubbish, but even though the owner inspected it, he never emptied it.
The courtyard has two shaded areas with stone arches but one of them is piled high with junk - mostly a collection of broken chairs - so no chance of using it to sit out of the sun. I found a drying rack in the junk pile that had only one rail broken so I cleaned it up and brought it back into use for us and the family upstairs.
We had two outside lights that never worked, so our neighbours helped us move our outside dining table into a lighted area for evening meals. These are just the problems we encountered in our short stay in our apartment. Maybe the others are in better condition. However the whole place needs tidying up, the junk removed, the contact numbers replaced, and all the minor repairs sorted.
