We have stayed in Kontoyiannis House 3 times - 2008, 2009, 2009. Why? We love the village of Kalavasos where friendly Cypriate families live; the village square where the elderly gentlemen gather during the day to drink coffee and play games; the private, sunny and pot plant-filled courtyard of the house; great fresh produce in the area, the central location of the village midway between Larnaca and Limasol, and the fact that overall, you are getting basic self catering accommodation at a good rate. I stress basic, so that your expectations are managed. And the owners are quirky. There are no instructions on arrival - John will meet you at the house and tell you what he remembers, but even he will admit he does not know how to work the TV/satellite. (Tip: the washing machine is outside by the BBQ.) Your welcome pack will always include a bottle of wine (much appreciated), a loaf of local bread, bag of grapes from the family property and sachets of instant coffee and sugar, so remember to ask John for directions to the grocery shop in the adjacent village. In summer, make sure you book with aircon, which costs extra. As for the rest, just relax
