“Check the Air-con price before you book!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Just 200 metres from the beach and at the end of one of the main shopping streets in Larnaca on the surface the Atrium Zenon Hotel Apartments prices look like a good deal that is too good to be true!! The catch is Air-conditioning/heating is charged locally. Some booking websites i.e. Hotels4U do not mention this, others quote Euro 6.75 per night however the Manager insists “this is a Expedia mistake not their own and the air-con/heating charge for a One Bedroom Apartment is Euro 9.00 per night while a Studio is Euro 4.50 per night”. Add this to the cost of your original booking and you may think twice.

The hotel itself is in a very central and convenient location, no need for a car unless you want to venture outside of Larnaca. Our One Bedroom Apartment was on the first floor overlooking the street and a very convenient street Corner Shop/Kiosk which sells just about everything you may possibly need for your stay from food, drinks to books and magazines. Yes, the kiosk does keep long opening hours and yes the street below is busy BUT the noise from both is no louder than you would expect from any centrally located city centre hotel and it is only noticeable when you are on the balcony or your balcony door is open. I agree the apartments overlooking the car park are probably quieter, they also have less sun, but then you don’t get the chance to watch the Cypriot world go by from your own small balcony.

The apartments themselves are more 3* than 4* basic functional furnishings which are cleaned daily (the washing-up is down to the guest though). Plenty of hot water, the towels, a small hand towel and a very slightly larger bath towel are both very small, you are only allocated one each for each guest. The hotel does not provide pool towels. The kitchenette has basic utensils, pots, pans and plates etc. a kettle, 2 hotplates, no oven or microwave. The under the counter fridge is spacious BUT as each apartment has Electronic Magnetic/Keys the electricity for the apartment cuts out when you leave, as does the fridge and the air-con for which you are paying. So unless you either stay in the apartment all the time or cheat the magnetic key system there is no chance of having a copious supply of ice or an icy cool room.

The pool on the 4th floor, which probably accounts for the hotels 4* rating, has plenty of sun loungers both in the sun and shade, very few children were staying during our stay so it was quiet. The pool bar staff were friendly however we found the food menu to be pricy for the quality and size of portions in comparison to other outlets close by. We did not take the breakfast option so can not comment on its choice or value; we found the very handy, friendly Corner Shop/Kiosk across the street from the apartments had a more than ample choice of yogurts, juice, fresh bread cooked and un-cooked meats etc for breakfast each day. Additionally along the sea front, less than 200 metres away there are a large range of cafes, coffee shops and restaurants etc of varying styles most of which have FREE WiFi.

The reception area is smallish with little character, it has a small seating area and desk. The ladies at reception are friendly and courteous but it is clear they are working strictly to orders from the General Manager Mr Michaelides who runs the hotel with an ‘iron fist’!! Both the hotel and the ambiance would benefit if Mr Michaelides spent more time correcting and up-dating the hotels entries on all booking sites for its smoking policy and additional supplements/charges rather than ‘bean counting’ charges from unsuspecting guests and avoiding larger commissions for booking agent fees. Unfortunately for us, like others before us, we were also caught out by a rather large Additional Room Supplement of Euro 63.00 for Air-con for the week.

Overall the Atrium Zenon Hotel Apartments location is central to the beach and town, these budget styled apartments are suitable for a base, however do account for and/or check and confirm the Air-con/heating price and any other supplements for WiFi etc before you book!! Should the total price for the stay be right for the style and quality of these apartments/hotel in comparison to other beach side properties in the immediate area we would stay here again.

If you are unlucky enough to be given a room facing the main road you have had it. For starters the Kiosk opposite has its radio on full blast until 1am. What's worse is that the truck & bus noise shakes the hotel. Not even worth mentioning the scooters with no exhausts. But the worse thing is that you will be woken at 6.30am every morning by the large van delivering the hotel's towels. This is something the hotel can control but they don't give a damn.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the Main Road & as high as possible are best

Nice pappy/mammy style hotel, friendly service and located in the middle of town. Apartments are large and there is an extra charge for A/C. Breakfast is good. Major problem is the WiFi. It is either slow or not working and cost Euro 25 for the connection. However there is a Gloria Jeans café close by, where internet is free of charge..

we stayed for 3 nights in april.
lovely refurbished apartments with lovely roof pool and bar.
central location but very noisey at night, best idea is keep windows shut and hire the remote for the air con, at 5 euros a day worth every penny, we did not eat breakfast in the hotel but it looked very good.
worth a stay for the price

Room Tip: try and get high up on the park side, a lot quieter

I stayed in Atrium Zenon hotel for a week together with my boyfriend (we're a young couple) and we enjoyed our stay very much. We had reserved a studio but what we got was a one bedroom apartment! No extra cost. The apartment was spacious, cleaned every day and quiet (3rd floor facing the garden). The pool was a pleasant surprise, quite small but with good music and nice parasols and enough sunbeds. The staff were helpful. Within short walking distance from shops, restaurants, bus stops and beach. Only cons were that the air conditioning wasn't included to the price of the room and the snack bar's prices were quite high. Otherwise we had a lovely stay!

We enjoyed our 10-day stay here greatly. This hotel is 100m from the Finikoudes beach & within 400m of all the central Larnaca attractions, restaurants, bars & shopping. You do pay for air-con but it's optional for outwith the hot months. Breakfast is comprehensive & good, if not a wee bit pricey at 7.50Euro.The main atrium gives a good feel to the interior & genrally the hotel is quiet as it's carpeted but there can be some traffic noise.

The solar-heated rooftop pool area is execellent with a bar (pricey too) 1030-1830 daily, plenty of sun-beds/parasols, a choice of terraces & gazebos for shade. Staff are welcoming attentive & courteous. The room service is excellent (x6 weekly). Parking is free for car rentals & access from a tunnel between the shops, but you need to go in for the electronic keycard, which is quirky at best & would've been a pain if alone in the car as stopping somewhere to get it would not be easy at peak times.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking parking lot...quieter I'd imagine.

Although I have not as yet stayed in this hotel, I had the chance to visit it when I went to see some friends who were staying here for 5 nights and they were telling me that they have been using this hotel every time they come to Larnaca for years.

It was a very busy weekend and there was heavy traffic all over the City because of the Festival of “Kataklysmos.” It was a relief to know that the hotel has its own parking lot and after the delay we had in the busy streets of Larnaca it was nice to park the car in a safe parking lot.

I had never been inside before and I was curious to see how it was inside. I cannot say that I got in the rooms but I was truly impressed with the huge lounge area and simple nice décor.
Although I noticed that my friends were carrying their pillows along from Paphos the first day we met in Platres, this time they not only had a nicer room but they told me they did not have to use their own pillows. The beds were comfortable, the room was spotlessly clean and they urged me to book here on my coming trip.

My friends were telling me that there is a nice pool on the roof garden but it was late the evening when I went there so I did not have the chance to see it. Another positive is that the staff here is very approachable and kind. In all, I believe the Atrium Zenon seems to cover the demands of a comfortable stay in an affordable price. I am going to try booking here for two or three nights on my coming trip in September when I visit Larnaca.
The main tourist attractions are within a short distance from the hotel so it has the perfect location for sight-seeing.
