“Why would you not visit?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

On our first night we made a bee line for the Dostlar which does the best Turkish food cheaply. I am willing to bet that many people are put off the place by it's unpretentious appearance. Do not let this influence you one iota.

If you appreciate good home cooked food at a reasonable price then at least give it a try, particularly if you are staying at the next door Deniz Kizi Hotel or anywhere around Kyrenia for that matter. If you don't go you are doing yourself a massive disfavour. There's a plethora of restaurants grown up producing fancy food (much of it microwaved) at fancy prices. If you want that fine but give the Dostlar a try. You will not be disappointed.

Everything is fresh in this family run restaurant. Mum's chips are to die for as are daughter Hulya's salads. The pide puts any pizza anywhere to shame. The meat is succulent. We went there twice in a week and both meals were the best we had in that time and the cheapest. They've even ditched the plastic tablecloths for cloth ones, sheer opulence!

“Good local Cypriot food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

A very understated building and one that I have driven passed many times and not noticed it. I joined some friends for dinner as they have been going for many years and highly recommend it.

I class myself as a very fussy eater. It surprised me that I found a few things on the menu that I liked. There is a bit of a wait for the food as it is freshly prepared but worth the wait. I loved the salad and pide.

You must try it whilst visiting North Cyprus!

“Family run Turkish restuarant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Huyla, her mum & dad run this little gem, this year with help from a lovely student from Pakistan. We love this place & the welcome is second to none. We have eaten here often over the years. Simple menu but all fresh ingredients & very well cooked to order. Kleftico is to die for but you need to pre order. Don't expect anything fancy, it is more like sitting in a friends garden enjoying their home cooking.

“Friendly and relaxed, amazing honesty.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Dostlar is everything that is good about a small family run restaurant. There is a simple Turkish menu with no pretentions or frills. Just simple, home cooked food served fresh from the wood fuelled stove. Kleftico available when pre ordered and repeat customers recognised and welcomed.
We mistakenly overpaid on our first night - befuddled by lack of sleep, mixed up Liras and Euros and possibly a little too much red wine - but were told of our error as we entered the restaurant on our second visit and given a refund. I don't think that we would ever have known that we overpaid, so were very impressed with this honesty.

“DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE EXTERNAL APPEARANCE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Just returned from 2 weeks in Kyrenia during which we spent two nights dining at the Dostlar. We also frequented the restaurant two years earlier and it does not appear to have changed at all. Menu is limited but everything appears to be cooked to order. Kleftico unavailable this time but tried it in 2010 and it was excellent. Obviously a family concern and service is friendly and efficient. You can get an excellent meal for around 25 to 30TL per head. It does not look much from the outside but it has its own special Cypriot atmosphere inside (complete with cats!!). Give it a try.
