This review is based on the second stay that we have had there this year, in March the experience was very different.
On arriving it was very clear that they had had a major turnover in staff and that communication was a problem. However our room was ready on arrival and the hotel had carried out our pre-arrival requests (duvets on the base of the bed to make it softer as the beds are VERY hard).
We had continual problems with the waiters at dinner who didn't want to take drinks order, resolve issues with the buffett and in particular one waiter who was incredibly rude. At breakfast the waiter also refused to serve us an omlette that my husband ordered and would also argue with me about a fruit order.
The housekeeping staff leave a lot to be desired. For two days on the trot our bed was not made and nor was the bathroom cleaned. One day they forgot to empty the bin so I made a make shift bin which was literally overflowing by the time they came the next day. For the duration of our 8 day stay a glass I was using to take medication was not cleaned / replaced by the hotel, I had to do it myself.
When we checked out I did mention the above to the front of house manager but I am not sure what will be done to rectify this. She did mention that another guest had also ccomplained that they hadn't had their room cleaned for two days.
The airconditioning kept tripping but could be reset at reception, one night it went off 9 times but was always reset - the answer the receptionist gave me is that people keep turning the heating on (despite it being 25 outside) and it was causing an issue with the system. The room at night became unbearable and one night I managed to only get 3 hours sleep.
For the majority of the stay one of the lifts was out of order although the sign kept disappearing telling you that. You would enter the lift and the doors would just open and close and if it did go anywhere when it hit the second floor it jolted terribly and you wondered if you would actually make your floor.
The hotel was very quiet and it was still weather to be by the pool. However there were no pool attendants or any staff in the pool bar. Very annoying as my husband had to frequently go into the hotel for drinks - not very acceptable.
Finally on this trip the staff seemed to have lost all of their name badges so it made it very difficult to highlight the occassional piece of good customer service (the cynic in me suspects they have removed the badges so people can't complain about them...)
Whilst Kyrenia is a lovely little place, we would not stay at this hotel ever again.
