“BELOW EXPECTACTIONS - OVER ESTIMATED”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

We have stayed over the Easter weekend as Kakopetria, which is an ideal place to be during Easter.

Hotel is locate in the part of old Kakopetria which is beautiful and there are two small rivers nearby the hotel.

The central square of the village is just 5 mins walk from hotel. The location is ideal to be used as a base for short trips around Troodos area.

Our rooms was a standard room so it was expected to be rather small as it was.
The staff was very kind enough to provide a baby cot for our little girl free of charge.
Room is decorated in traditional style and this what you should expect from traditional BB.

First impression was nice but after a while you realize that not all furniture’s are antiques and
Authentic traditional Cypriot but replicas which is rather disappointing especially when you take into consideration The hotel rates. Room cleanliness and condition was ok.
Also there is coffee and tea facilities in the rooms. We really like that room was very warm and central heating was on until late at night.

Next to the reception there is small garden/patio with table when in a nice day you can enjoy your food and coffee.

Linos Inn is very famous for its own traditional tavern which is in the same building with the hotel.
The tavern was the most busy restaurant in Kakopetria and lot of tourist group are going there.
Service was nice but food was below expectations contrary to the very good reviews we have heard before and prices are Rather on the high side.

A nice little treatment is that if your order at any time a coffee from the restaurant same is coming complimentary for hotel Guests.

Our stay was nice but in general Hotel can be much better and should also reconsider rates for the service and rooms offered which Are rather overpriced and over-estimated for the provided services.

Linos Inn is in the main historic preservation area of Kakopetria in the heart of the old town. Excellent postion to visit the Mill Restaurant and the town itself. Kakopetria is a great location for walkers and out doors type people, as it is ideally located to several of the main walking routes posted by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and their maps and publications of avalible in the hotel and CTO offices in major cities of the island.

The hotel is a old stone building converstion and has many origianal features as well decent sized rooms and antique style fixtures that add to the local charm of the place. Bathrooms clean and basic although there are options per room, with original fire places and or jacuzzi equiped bathrooms. Old style brass beds are the order of the day and are comforatble but don't expect duvets and silk sheets. Its back to old fashioned sheets and blankets here. Breakfast included and is suffiecient to start you for the day ahead. Contiential meats and cheese and a cooked section also. There is a lovely outside court to sit out and dine, during the day, as well as a inside dining area for evenings. Food acceptable to good but would suggest keeping to local dishes rather than the exotic. If you enjoy peace and tranqulilty then this is the place for you. I stayed during Easter weekend, which is the biggest festival period in the Cyprus calender and was not disturbed at all by the events of the holiday. Would definatly recommend and return for R&R short breaks away from it all.

This hotel has a great potential, but is completely dissapointing!

On the good side, it is located in the old city of Kakopetria, which is a nice area to walk around. The hotel itself is a renovated old house with traditional-style furniture (hence the potential).

However, there are too many things that can (and will) ruin your stay there.
1) Breakfast. We stayed for two nights, Friday evening till Sunday morning. On Saturday morning the breakfast was minimal, nothing tasty and they didn't even have proper coffee (Nescafe sachets only!). On Sunday morning on the other hand, presumably because more people stayed in the hotel on Saturday evening, the breakfast was very big, with lots of different things to eat, various options for coffee, juice, etc. Quite hypocritical I'd say...
2) Room cleaning. Our room was clean when we arrived, but did not get cleaned again until we left! When we discovered on Saturday evening that the room hadn't been cleaned, we asked the lady in the reception to call someone to clean and she happily said she'd do it. But then noone came for the job...
3) Wine offer. When we booked the room, there was an offer for a free wine bottle with our stay there. First of all, when we arrived there was no wine bottle there, and if we hadn't asked for it on Saturday evening obviously we wouldn't get one. Then, when we asked for it, we got a small bottle of the cheapest kind!!! How pathetic!
4) Food. At best I would call it average quality. The are certainly better places to eat in Kakopetria, e.g. the restaurant by the old mill combines great food with an excellent view of the village.
5) Price. Way too expensive for what it offers.

I would like to start by saying this hotel had a lot of potential. But the areas for improvment are so huge that the hotel should ve burned down rather than saved. You first walk in and you are instantly over powered with the lovely smell of cat urine aromea. If you are fourtantly sick that day, you wont miss the cats running wild all over the place..(in the hallways and the kitchen!) If you can get passed this then you are a rare customer. My first night there was amazing though.. The kids playful, deathly, screams and the toursist walking right infront of my window looking in really helped me fall asleep quick. The beds were a close reselmblance from an Addams Family Movie. Fester's Bed. The bed sheets were made of burlac and the pillows were about as big as a dinner plate stuffed like a mexican tortelia shell.

The hotel also has 1 amazing room... it has a fireplace. it is just, for a lack of words, awesome. To bad they just use this room to suck in guest and stick them through out the hotels prison chambers. .

The food. not so good. it was not horrible, but with the smell of cat urine did not help my appitiet.

If you are looking for a honey moon retreat or a romantic outing where (sorry about the language) you want to have a lot intimacy.. this is not the place.. run away... run far far away!

Room Tip: bring a gun and right before you fall alseep. shoot yourself

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for two nights 3 and 4 February 2012. We have stayed in many similar styled hotels in mountains and we can honestly say that this was the worst. The whole hotel complex (made up of a main building and separate 'arxontika' houses) gives the feeling that it hasn't been cleaned properly for months (years). We were put in Room 7 - a free standing independent 'house'. The bedroom was downstairs with fireplace and living area upstairs. There were no towels, the blanket had a massive stain in the middle, the couch was covered by a throw that was not enough to cover the stained and dirty couch underneath, the glasses and mugs were dirty and the kettle had deep brown staining on the base (you wouldn't hurry to boil anything in that!).

The room had the feeling that it has been 'swept', not cleaned. The overall feeling was one of dust and dirt.

Completely unacceptable when you are charging 125 euros a night for this room. Also given that you are paying extra for a room with a fireplace, you don't then expect to be charged for the wood, however you are! 10 euros per bag.

The breakfast was also very average - the coffee was absolutely DISGRACEFUL! The machine had mould growing on the spout. Disgusting.

The only plus side and the reason I didn't rate the hotel 'terrible' is that the river gushes below and you can hear it and see it from the room. But clean up the place - it is revolting - plastic rubbish all down the side of the pathway leading to the river, and houses that have not been fixed up looking like dilapitated rat traps.

Very very overpriced, very dirty and extremely uncomfortable bed and couch. This should be in the vicinity of 60 euros a night, not 125.

First and last time at this hotel - as a very frequent traveller for business and pleasure, I do not appreciate being taken for a ride and this place does exactly that.

I stayed at the hotel on the 5th of January 2012 but it seems that every year the quality gets worse. We were placed in a room which was not on the main building. The room was number 5. Make sure not to book this room, as it has a common entrance with room no. 6 which is above room 5. The walls are from a thin wood and any talking or noise seems terrible. The lights in the room are so low in order not to see the dirt everywhere. Below the curtains and the bed was much dirt. No one came to clean the room as we were staying for 3 days. Only one time a girl came to change the towels which were so old that also seemed used and had stains. In the kitchen we had only 3 classes and nothing else to be able to cook something. It is a pity for this hotel to be like that. And the worse is that nobody cares about the situation mentioned by me and others. No government people do anything about it and Cyprus is in the European union. Why do people have to suffer all these and instead of having fun to be angry and disappointed? And something more is that we had to pay 121 euro per night.

Room Tip: do not get a room away from the main building
