“Nature lovers will like this one!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

A bit remote. You follow an earth road for about 30min in order to reach the area of the gorge. Best to get there in a 4x4. There is a parking lot near the start of the nature trail with picnic benches and running water. Pleasant walk - the nature trail is not difficult in the summer months when the waters in the river are low and you reach the narrowest and most interesting part of the gorge within 30min. In the winter or spring the level of the water is higher. I visited once in April and couldnt proceed to the interesting bits / reach the gorge! Spring is the blooming season of the endemic flower - centaurea akamantis. On the cliffs above the trail there are flocks of wild goats and sometimes you get the impression that they are laughing at you!! A pleasant day in nature. If you have time, after your visit you may carry on on the earth road for another hour or so until you reach beautiful lara bay - look for references on trip advisor!

“A must see in Cyprus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

We visited the place on one of our last days in Cyprus. Good thing we did! This is one of the best nature attractions the island has to offer. The mountains are nice, some of the beaches above average, but this gorge is really highly above the average. It's not easy to get to, we arrived at the parking in a Nissan Micra and to be honest there were 2-3 places were the driver needs to be careful (not to fall off the cliff, put a non 4x4 car on a rock). The path to the gorge is well described, there are benches along so one can sit if he gets hit by the sun. After 20min of walking the gorge is getting narrow and here the magic happens. It get cooler, the stream gets more curvy, you get to see goats and finally massive walls and huge rocks above your head. We arrived a day after heavy rains and decided not to get our kids wet, so we did not go through the whole way, but still managed to get to the key "tourist" spots.

Really, really do your best to get here.

“Not quite what i expected”

A two hour drive from Larnaka was not worth it, If i had been staying in Paphos maybe. A 20 minute hike from the car park to a dissapointing ending.

“Short and sweet - But be careful!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Having read all the reviews, and built up the experience in the minds of our children, we almost walked past the boulder!!!! The trail is blocked past the boulder so strenuous climbing is necessary. On our return some rocks fell very very close to us from a height - presumably dislodged by the goats - so be wary with young children. Also wear sensible shoes - #NOT flipflops!!!!
This is worth seeing, but it is what it is, a boulder caught between a gorge. There are more walking trails in this area.
