“Modern hostel in remote location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

Found underneath a valley crossing bridge the YH is a very modern looking building. Arriving at 9pm we missed food by a matter of minutes. Bedding was collected at the reception and deposits were required for padlocks and key cards. The room had a large window with amazing views, however once closed the room was very hot. Showers and toilets were a short walk down the hall. Basic breakfast provided including cereal, meat, cheese and bread.

The hostel was super nice and clean. No wifi in the rooms, but free wifi in the clean and well designed public spaces. You need to walk a bunch to get anywhere, and your walk always begins with a huge hill. We were there in the summer of 2011, but I forgot to review it then.

This was really quite nice. We enjoyed a game of table tennis when we arrived and had a chat and a coffee with a great guy who worked behind the bar. Rooms were clean and modern. I forgot about a few things in hostels like having to make your own bed and people in the room getting up at 6am when I have a hangover, but this did not really detract from what is essentially a nice place to stay in an otherwise overpriced city.
The location is quite good, but everywhere is uphill which is not fun with a massive backpack. The breakfast was not good.

We caught the no. 9 bus from the station and then had a five minute walk down a very steep hill. I travelled with my husband and adult daughter, and we were pleased and surprised when we were given a 4-bed room to ourselves. Rooms are basic but the beds were comfortable. The shower was annoying – you had to hold your hand on the button, which only left one hand to manage soap and shampoo. Breakfast was good, but dinner was fantastic. Very reasonably priced, great food and lovely staff. We enjoyed the vending machines which were also very reasonably priced. The downside was the kids in the room above. Part of a sports team and aged around 11, they had no adult in their room and spent over an hour late at night jumping from bunk to bunk and onto the floor. Hostel staff did their best to put a stop to it, but there weren’t enough chaperones to have an adult in each room with the kids. All in all, this was a really nice hostel, and the price was very welcome in an expensive city.

Room Tip: Room 103 – directly above the lounge – has wi-fi in the room.

the youth hostel is reasonably accessible from the city centre, once you've mastered the direction to walk after the number 6 bus drops you off. and the route is certainly steep.
Once you found the hostel, the staff are very helpful. The rooms are about right considering the price and the showers are functional.
while I was there ( 2nd June to 4th June ) the breakfasts were as good as you would expect in a youth hostel and better than some, apart from the view from the windows ( surprisingly good) the main event was dinner, the choice was limited, but it was of very high quality and my travel companion and I thought it was one of the best youth hostel meals we've had and of reasonable price.

It actually looks like hotel: good cleaning, magnet keys, possibilities of shuttle and renting bike, big elevator... We had a 4bed room with toilette and shower in it (and table with chair, and 5 or so plugs!!!). Ok, shower was not perfect, because it was hard to adjust it and the water was too dispersed. It was not too easy to find it because of city relief and they have road signs "to hostel" in French(!) After checking out we could use lockers for luggage near the reception for free (if you don't have lock, you can borrow it on reception with 10EUR deposit). There are ping-pong tables and lounge chairs in the yard. Bus stop is right near the hostel (actually 40 meters higher) - you can easily reach Central Gare (Railway Station). It's about 25-30 minutes to reach it by foot. But near the hostel you can see a lot of viaducts, in approx. 20 minutes of walk in opposite direction there are European Quarter with MUDAM museum (free for students) and ancient forts.

You only really need one or two nights in Luxembourg and this place does the trick. Clean comfortable rooms with comfortable beds and lockers.... Excellent location just down the hill from the incredible citadel and a 5-10 minutes walk from most everything. A great deal and we would stay again!
