“100 Pieces of Maltese History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

As a whole the museum was very good, encompassed a huge amount of archaeological pieces and information, but the absolute jewel of this place is it's current exhibition of 100 pieces of Maltese history that have made it through to today. The exhibit is cleverly presented and laid out.

“A must either before or after visiting the temples of Malta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

This is an excellent little museum which holds many of the items discovered in the ancient archaeological sites of Malta. We visited on our last day in Malta, after having been to the various temples, and it was interesting to see what had been found there, but equally I think a visit before going to the sites would be just as good. It's not a huge museum, but then Malta isn't a huge island, so you wouldn't expect something massive. They have a lot packed in there though and it's well laid out, with descriptions in Maltese and English.

At the moment, until February 2015 they have an exhibition called Malta: The Great Story of a small Island-Nation through 100 Objects, which is well worth a look and takes you through the entire history of the island with an object to illustrate each key point.

If you're planning on visiting a lot of Malta's museums and historic sites it's worth getting a Heritage Malta multipass currently €35 for adults.

“Provides great context for seeing the Neolithic temples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

The museum provides great context for seeing the neolithic temples; a small but interesting museum, worth the visit.

“One of the highlights of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Somehow we missed this on our first visit to Malta, which was a mistake. The various ancient archaeological sites around Malta are amazing but not always well-interpreted. This museum places the island's unique history in a clear context. Plus, at the moment, they have a wonderful exhibition which tells Malta's history through 100 objects.

“Good exhibition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Well set out over 3 levels. They have a temporary exhibition on until next year called The History of Malta in 100 items (or something) which was very well laid out and informative, and the highlight.
