“Could be really good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This hotel has all the basics for a really good hotel. Excellent location in the city, outdoor space, well decorated and furnished rooms. It represents excellent value in terms of room rates and drink costs in the bar. The weekend we were there most drinks were half price in the bar.

We asked for a quiet room and were given 503. The beds were really comfortable but there was a continuous noise from the air conditioning unit outside the room. The TV had BBC World and Entertainment as well as Eurosport.

The 2 main problems we encountered were

a female receptionist who at best was unhelpful and made no attempt we could see to interract with guests. Her older male collegue who was working on the Sunday was the total opposite and a real asset to the hotel.

the breakfast was poor quality and the same each day. The evening meal was cheap at 9.90euro for 3 courses but the food was processed and bland.

Both of these could be easily sorted and if the hotel does it will be able to offer a very good option for anyone wanting to stay in Valetta.

Room Tip: 502 has a double aspect sea view

The staff in this hotel were, without exception, eager to please and very friendly. The hotel could not be more centrally placed in Valletta and it is handy for the buses which travel to the whole island.
I would recommend staying in Valletta, especially off season, if you like sightseeing. The sights of Valletta especially St. John's and the harbour are breathtaking.
We were not sure about coming to Malta but we would definitely return but only to Valletta.

We visited Malta for the first time and stayed at the Osborne Hotel in Valletta. The location was perfect for exploring. We were there during the carnival and although it rained quite a bit, we enjoyed the carnival celebrations.
Pro: The hotel is a short walk from the bus terminus. Clean. Friendly staff. Value for money.
Con: Small shower.
We hope to return to Malta and will definitely consider returning to the Osborne Hotel.

Had a great stay in Osborne Hotel. Location is very good, just few mins walk from the bus station where the X4,X5 and X7 busses arrives from the airport. About 15-20min walk to Valletta Waterfront where they have bars and restaurants. Great Siege Road gives some nice views when doing some walking around.

Room Tip: Wifi is chargeable but not too bad price, 6€ for 24hrs use.

We have just returned from a week in Malta and stayed at the Osborne Hotel in Valletta. The hotel is perfectly placed as it is in the centre of Valletta and only a few minutes walk away from the bus station which has frequent buses that cover the whole island. (Buy a 7 day bus ticket for 12 euros...it's great value). The hotel itself was warm and clean. Although small, we had a very comfortable room. The staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and the buffet style evening meal is only 9.90 euros for three courses. A wonderful stay! Thank you!

Stayed here for four nights. Certainly this hotel is the best priced decent hotel in central Valletta. However there are many shortcomings which could be looked at.

The pro's:

Great location- 5 minutes walk to the bus station, archaeology museum, main shopping street. Lots of restaurants nearby

Cheap- we paidn220 EUR for four nights. 9 EUR for buffet dinner

Six english TV channels including BBC, Discovery and MTV

Decent room sizes, quiet

The con's:

Service really needs looking at. Except for Ronald, the older gentleman wo I suspect may be the boss, most other staff seem rather disinterested. One time while waiting in line to speak go the man at front desk, he chose to answer the phone to someone who had just called from ther room while I had taken the trouble to come down in person. I found this rather rude.

The breakfast is in theory plentiful with scrambed eggs, bacon, pastry, fruit, bacon. However by 9am is was severely depleted and there was little attempt to replenish. We had to ask several times for more eggs to a disgruntled waitress.

Wifi costs extra- again just a little cheap

No one at the bar to serve most of the time. Had to ask front desk several times before finally someone came over.

All in all, if you're looking for a reasonably priced, decent place to stay in the centre of town you probably won't beat the Osborne. If you want good service and to feel looked after, I'd suggest investing in one of the nicer hotels.

Just arrived back from a 3 night anniversary break at this hotel and cannot speak too highly of it.
Every member of staff and I mean every member of staff were of the highest standard - nothing was too much trouble.
We ate in the restaurant each evening and could not fault the choice or quality of the buffet food. The staff & chef were very approachable and seemed sincerely interested when talking about our day. The high point for the food ( certainly for me ) was the octopus stew one evening - superbly tasty ! No worry though for anyone less adventurous as there is always a carvery meat as an option.
Breakfast again pushes all the right buttons with plenty of choice both hot and cold.
No need to venture far either for drinks as the prices in the hotel bar and restaurant are unbelievably good. Example : Litre of house red wine at 3.5 euros certainly won't break the bank.
Location just 2 minutes from main bus termini is ideal for buses to all parts of the island or if you fancy just 3 minutes the other direction down to the harbour and the ferry to Sliema.
Valletta is a beautiful city and well worth a visit - not sure about Sliema though .... bit Blackpoolish for me!

Room Tip: No rooms have balconies but getting a room on a high floor should guarantee a good view across the c...
