An enjoyable evening spent with genuine food, great service in a historical place. Well worth the money.

“Very good seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

This was certainly one of the best seafood restaurants we have been to. The seafood platter was fantastic value, with about 8 different types of shellfish on the plate. They certainly know how to make a calamari rings (absolute must try).

We didn't make a booking, but was able to get a table towards the end of lunch service. The service was not the best we would expect from a top rated restaurant, but hey the food was fantastic!

“Delicious food and lovely atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

Went to Palazzo Preca on Friday night with my boyfriend. We had a lovely time and the food was amazing. We had spaghetti vongole and the mushroom vol-au-vent for starters, the mixed fish grill and cartoccio for mains, creme brulee and cheesecake for dessert. all perfect! there is also a very good selection of wines. We sat in the "red room" which is very romantic and cosy. The staff are very friendly and passionate about what they do. would definitely recommend! however, do book a table if you plan to go on a friday night as valletta is becoming increasingly busy at the weekends :)

“The best culinary experience of one week in the islands of Malta.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

I agree with the previous reviewer that the service was a bit 'pushy' , otherwise the food was delicious! We had the I had crab cakes as starter and my husband scallops, then, I had fritto misto (calamari, different fishes and prawns deep friend with a tartar sauce) and , my husband the lamb, with veggies and potatoes.
We both enjoying our meal very much. The antipasti and the liqueur on the house are nice touches, we really appreciated it!The antipasti was delicious! Ramona was there to talk to us when we finished our late lunch, already in the middle of the afternoon, and kindly asked for our feedback. Keep the good work! We will surely comeback!

“Excellent food but shame about the service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Right from the start my husband and I were not impressed with the service when we were made to feel very rushed to place our initial order even though we made it clear we wanted time to fully look at the menu and in a few minutes the waitress was back again. Then when the wine waiter brought the bottle of wine we had ordered he was clearly chewing something which was not at all professional. Finally almost as soon as our main course was cleared the waitress came to ask us if we wanted any desserts and then proceeded to rattle off the menu at an incredible rate. We ordered and in a few minutes the dessert arrived and was literally plonked on the table. Maybe this was because it was a Carnival and they were expecting to be busy.

Having said all this we were dining in a lovely setting and had a complimentary small pre starter which included bruschetta, butter beans, some sort of dip and small savoury biscuits. Following our dessert we were also given limoncello on the house which was a lovely touch. The food was excellent including a delicious fish soup, lamb shank, grilled fish and a trio of desserts and a sherry trifle.

Overall despite the slightly rushed and uninterested service we enjoyed our meal and would probably give it another try.
