“Magnificent setting for a very romantic dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We went to Palazzo Preca to finally have some time to speak between adults without interruptions from our beautiful bubbly toddler.
The setting is beautiful and the decor is very tasteful, I was impressed by the wine cellar which is visible through a glass paving.
I was more and more impressed with the friendly service and the great food.
We opted for the set menu which at 25€ was very reasonably priced. I had pastry filled with delicious mushrooms, while my husband opted for the fried goats cheese in breadcrumbs.
We both went for rib eye as the main course and it was delicious perfectly cooked.
For dessert I had a very nice chocolate cake while my hubby had the lemon sorbet!
We were even offered a limoncello on the house at the end of the night.
It was truly a delightful experience and we will soon visit Palazzo Preca again.

“A very fine dining experience !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

A beautifully restored building with great character, this establishment is noteworthy for its luscious decor and exemplary service.
The food lived up to its reputation: I enjoyed the Vitello whilst my wife tried the Funghi Porcini pasta. Neither of us were disappointed. I didn't have sufficient room for a dessert, however my wife said that hers was delicious.
I feel that the loos could do with an uplift which would help to bring them in line with what is, on the whole, one of Valletta's finest restaurants.
It isn't cheap, but it's certainly good value, and in the end you only get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Very good food and staff are very welcoming , would certainly come again and I highly recommend it. This place has again given life to this street, where before this was the red light district during the British Rule. Worth visiting .

“good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

We had lunch here consisting of 1 course and a bottle of wine because the desert menu was poor but we were offered complementary digestif drinks, service was excellent and the staff were friendly.

“Great meal down the gut - if you know what I mean!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Having eaten many times at 'The Family' in Marsascala, we were interested to hear that not only had the daughters opened their own restaurant, but that it was situated in Strait Street - the infamous 'Gut'. The street is being brought back to civilised life and Valetta itself is now a much more lively place to visit in the evening.
The restaurant is elegant, having been a complete wreck previously, and was mostly filled with Maltese customers which is always a good sign. Service by Francesca was great and the food was an eclectic mix of Maltese, Italian and modern. Rabbit liver, rockfish, langoustine, saltimbocca were just some of the dishes we had. All were excellent.
Don't miss it.
