“Go to Guze!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Just finished the last tantalizing sip of the best espressos in Malta. This complimented an exceptional meal wich started with a delicious app irised of ricotta cheese with a twist of lemon and some bread with olive jelly and tomato pesto.

The 500 year old setting mirrors the ancient city of Valletta while the service is second to none. As 'walk in's' we were treated as regulars and shown the best table.

The service was exceptional and personal right down to the fondant which was dispatched within the 15min advised but for which we could have waited forever it was that good!

Highly recommended on your trip to Malta and definitely worthy of no 1 status!

“Fantastic value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

It was raining when we visited and the staff allowed us to enter half an hour before they officially opened. We expressed a wish to spend a few hours just grazing through various dishes on the menu and they were delighted. We ordered starters to share that were brought separately and asked for a break of half an hour before the main courses, nothing was too much trouble for them. The portions were huge and the quality was very good and the local wine was good quality and a reasonable price.
A busy lunch time with a great atmosphere
If you want a friendly good quality restaurant try this, you wont be disappointed

“Accidental find of the century!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Me partner and I were visiting Valletta for the day and were walking through the streets in search of a nice restaurant to spend our last night in Malta. Luckily we found Guze! The beautiful building and setting just added to the charm.

We started with Tuna Carpaccio and Calamari for starters. Mains I decided to finally taste the rabbit and my partner the fish of the day. This was accompanied with a gorgeous bottle of red which was recommended from the waiter.

A restaurant full of charisma that would honestly be worth a sole trip to Malta for!

“World class calamari!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Housed in a tiny, old (oldest in Valletta apparently) Guze Bistro is very charming. I ate some world class calamari with squid ink and tartare sauce, followed by a fillet of beef. I asked for it medium rare and it came a little over cooked for my liking but forgivable when paired with the fiery Gozo cheese on top. I'm sure it mentioned truffle somewhere in the description but none was present. My trio of sorbets were beautiful matched with a delicious dessert wine.
Lovely!

“Basement bistro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

The kitchen is at street level and the restaurant below, but you are not underground. The varied levels give the place a degree of charm. We were there on a rainy evening and it was just right for us. I'm not sure you would want to go there when it's boiling hot in August

The menu is limited, but the cooking is competent. We both had two sorts of fried fish (both of the bream family) and they were good, if small and rather expensive at 24 Euros a pop. Our total bill was 84 Euros, which we found around the norm for Valletta.

Service was excellent, as it was everywhere we went.

It's good, but not as good as Michael's or Palazzo Preca and costs the same
