“Tempted by Temptasian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

Dining at Temptasian Restaurant was truly magical! Commencing from the ease to park, then through the foyer where a welcoming sensation surrounds you and led by the personal touch of the reception staff, discreetly wishes an enjoyable eve indicating the ninth floor to the restaurant.
Reaching the top level, leads you into a unique layout and design which immediately sets you into a delicate yet reserved, romantic and relaxing atmosphere which becomes a fulfilment before even being seated. The staff flawlessly progress you to your table and the eve takes in yet another stage.
Food is an art due to it's presentation, and its uniqueness in taste rating an A+ in the culinary ways of literally tempting your taste buds to discover more of the Asian cuisine.
I would recommend my approach to anyone who wishes to recall a unique dine while on the island.

There on business - chosen based upon TA reviews

The Fabulous - Roof top restaurant and pool and terrace - it was November and raining but it was excellent and the food was excellent.

The Good - Hotel room was nice - beds a bit soft as commented by other reviewers, but I slept well. Did hear church bells (also commented by others - if you are a light sleeper ask to be away from the bells).

The Bad - Our rate was a special including breakfast... but its RyanAir pricing the breakfast gets added to the room rate before you reserve which is a bit sharp. Unfortunately when you get there the breakfast was rubbish - think concentrated juice which for orange was literally brown in colour, plus pastries that are rock hard under the heat lamp. My advice - go and eat breakfast out as there are plenty of options at half the price locally to the hotel - It was like being in a different hotel to the restaurant on the top floor....

I raised this with the duty manager one evening and asked to have breakfast removed from the room rate - We'd prepaid so I offered to use up the extra cash on other meals / services from the hotel during our stay. They said no and told me they couldn't understand what I was complaining about.... I thought this was bad service recovery ! They offered to let us take room service breakfast "so it might be more fresh" which I didn't begin to understand but I explained that since my colleague and I were there on business it wouldn't do for us to share breakfast in bed.... My colleague felt the same so I don't think I was being picky here.

So that was left unresolved. We did decide to give them the benefit of the doubt and tried it again another day and it was equally bad.

I can't fault the front desk service or in fact the hotel as a whole but the breakfast - avoid it on your life !

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask to be away from the church bells.

We spent 7 nights at The Palace in which our room was great, very clean. Breakfast was good (plenty of choice) We ate in the The Asian Restaurant - good. We also ate a 'Buffet Meal' which was okay but did expect something better that calf's liver'. Also, had a bar meal - again ok (not a lot of choice). Surprised to find that they do not serve steaks or an assortment of fish dishes. But, they are a new hotel and not a chain so I suppose they're learning all the time. Would we stay again? Yes! Would we recommend? Yes! If you drink in the bar one person stood out for us - JOVIN!!! What a lovely guy! Lastly, we thought the hotel should be a 4 star and not 5

My husband and I have just returned from The Palace, after our second trip this year, and can't wait to return.

Unlike the previous reviewer, we had breakfast included in our price, and had he checked trip advisor before his trip, there has been a special offer of free breakfast for months. On the subject of breakfast, there is an amazing choice. Hot choices, bacon, eggs, saugages, potatoes, etc. All kinds of bread, for your own toasting etc. Continental breakfast, meats cheeses, pickles. Cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fruit joices, and even sparkling wine.

Having eaten in the restaurant, and bar cafe, we found all food to be first class. The only restaurant we have not used is the TemptAsian, as we do not want Asian food when in Malta, but the reviews are all great.

When we arrived, we were given a free soft drink by the consierge, who was always smiling and friendly, which was perfect after an early start. The front desk staff could not have been more helpful. Having asked for a room with a view, we were not disappointed. As our room was not ready for us, because we were very early, we were given free use of all hotel facilites, which are all first class, and constant apoligies for the delay.

The room itself was exceptional and cleaned spotlessly every day. It had two large beds, a flat screen TV, both bath and seperate shower, tea making facilities, and a nice balcony to enjoy a glass of wine on in the evening.

The Palace is in a good central location for exploring Sliema. There are many good bars and restaurants, and every road from the hotel leads you to a different place on the waterfront. For a first class meal try Serafino, just off the main road on the harbour side.

Lastly, and most importanly, a big thank you to Mario and his team for ther time and consideration during our stay. They truly seem to enjoy their work and nothing is too much trouble. The staff we got to know are very dedicated and loyal to both The Palace and to their guests.

Hope to see you all in March, if not sooner!
Ray and Jane xx

Room Tip: Views are better from the front of the hotel, but then you hear the bells from the many local church...

just spend 4 nights in this hotel with my freind and we loved it !!! everything just matched our ecspectations and we felt more than welcome ... location is realy good for a visit to Malta.as you are only 10 min away fro everything . the hotel offers taxi service and the price is about the same as the local taxis but why drive in a litle scruffy car when you can have a limo like mercedes for the same price ! ask the hotel to pick you up fro the airport.we will absolutely return to The Palace hopefully allready for easter hollydays.

Just come back from the Palace in Sliema - very nice hotel, here's a very quick review and useful tips :
- Stayed in a Superior Room facing back of hotel. Some people complain of the bells of the nearby church but at the back you can't hear a thing
- Room nice but often had a vaguely unpleasant smell from the drains - came and went. Didn't notice it with aircon but it was obvious from time to time - I hope they fix this
- Don't pay for breakfast! We went down on the first day and it cost 37 euros for 2 - that's over £30! Breakfast was average, coffee stodgy. Go room only, loads of lovely cafes just a short distance away.
- Don't pay for the water in the room. There is a supermarket 1 minute away where you can get the same bottle in your room for 50 cents rather than the 4 euros they charge
- We went in Nov so the top floor pool wasn't really in use - water freezing
- Indoor pool OK
- A nice treat is to go to the Fortina Spa resort which is 10 mins walk - they had an offer for 2 of spa use for 36 euros. The spa is getting a bit tired but was still nice. Its normally 36 euros pp so if they didn't have the offer on I don't think it would be worth it
- Loads of good places to eat. Nearby I recommend a lovely local pizzeria (can't remember name but turn left out of hotel, left at Scotts Supermarket and its at the bottom of the road on the right - past the Thai spa) and also The Chophouse at Tigne Point shopping about 15 mins walk - fab views of Valletta - about £20 for mains so one for a special meal
- Cab to airport from hotel was 23 euros so only 3 more than the journey from the airport to the hotel

Room Tip: Ask for one facing to back of hotel. Go room only and eat breakfast elsewhere.
