“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Hotel looks unassuming from the outside in a narrow street one back from the promenade but it gets a lot better.

Excellent service throughout from the famously friendly and polite Maltese and a huge suite made up of lounge and separate bedroom, each 7m x 3.5m at least. Good shower/bathroom and air conditioning/heating plus full size fridge plus microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery.

Only downside was that TV channels are very limited at present which mattered on one very wet day!

All round great value for money especially as special deals are sometimes available through agents such as Travelrepublic

Room Tip: Room that isn't at the back may help reduce wind noise that is channeled between the buildings

Chose this hotel due to trip advisor reports and location and were not disappointed, traveled in january and went for sliema over quawa/buggibba area as it was close to valletta, transport, shops, places of interest and had a local feel. Glad we did as I didnt think much of buggibba in january, will definetly go back but only in the winter spring seasons
Our room was at the front and was subject to early morning traffic noise and people banging on the hotel door to get in late at night, however the noise could only be heard in the main room and not the bedroom
It was nice that the room safe was free, as opposed to the spanish hotels, I normally wear a money belt when away but didnt feel the need in malta
The facilities in the room were excellent, loads of space, full size fridge freezer, micro, kettle, table, desk and telly
There was a welcome pack in the room , but little of note in it, this should have been better, eg the free bus map, free map of sliema, plus other freebies from the tourist board would not have gone a miss and would not have taken long to compile. I was able to go for a morning run each day and doing this on the first day gave me the local knowledge we needed.
We opted for half board, the breakys were excellent, the evening meals were hit and miss, however Tony always came up trumps and had great customer service skills, by far the best manager/colleague in the hotel.
We used the weekly bus pass 12 euro, to get around the island which was excellent value, most buses seemed to pass through sliema. Travelled to Gozo for the day, again got the bus 200 yds from the hotel, which was really handy. We used the daily bus ticket at 2.60e when there, but if we go again will hire a car for the day
To sum up, we had a lovely holiday and visited lots of interesting places, hotel was good and we will return in a few years time

Room Tip: high floor at rear

We six old age pensioners go for an outing for a week each year in January, this was the one for 2013 and we had a wonderful time. The Rocca Nettuno suites were warm, clean and comfortable with a particular style.
The staff couldn't do enough for us with local info. directions and help with the kit in the rooms. We used Travel Republic to book and the transfers were booked at the same time (£25 for all six returns, including a 4.30am pick up, very good value!)
The roof top view from the swimming pool deck was right across the harbour to Valletta and had deck chairs to sit on, the weather was just too cool to actually swim but the pool was kept up so we could have done had the fancy taken us...
The hotel was full for all the time we were there but it was, none the less, calm and the breakfasts copious with a generous choice of as much as we could eat.Being one street away from the harbour front the hotel was sheltered from the hub-hub of people in the evenings and the breeze from the sea. The wi fi was good and strong even on the fifth floor, the desk has the code to log on.
Valletta was accessible from the frequent water taxi just across the road we took a 1 euro taxi up the hill to the town centre. We took a hop on hop off South and North bus tour of the island with Maltasightseeing since it was our first visit to the island and they gave us a good overview of what to see, also included a free harbour tour. The visits we took were very reasonably priced but if you would like to go to the underground prehistoric temple complex you do need to book before you get to the island, it is very popular.

Room Tip: We had front and back rooms both equally good but neither had sea views

Stayed here for a weekend in November. Great facilities, including restaurant and pool. View of the bay from the rooftop pool was fantastic. Couldn't fault the hotel on anything. Location not perfect, up a miniature incline, nothing terrible about it. Bus stop is a minutes walk and so is tigne point shopping centre. Enjoyed staying here, and would stay here if I were to return to Malta

Stayed here in January for 4 nights an had a great time. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with a smile. The rooms were so nice an exactly how the looked on the website. The rooms were also kitted out very well and the huge fridge freezer was a massive bonus. The hotel was very well maintained and all rooms were cleaned daily to a great standard. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will stay here again if and when we come back.

Stayed here for a few days in january, couldn't fault the place. Location excellent, room cleaned every day, wonderful employees who were happy to help and so polite.
Large suites with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Cutlery and plates also provided if you wanted to do your own meals.

Although we didn't use it, we visited the roof pool. It was very nice, would expect it to be a real plus in the summer.

It was a very, very nice place and I would easily have no hesitation in staying here again.

Excellent accommodation at a very good price. Absolutely no complaints. They also have a car park but sometimes it gets full.

It's very close to the Sliema ferry to Valletta and less than 50m from restaurants and cafe along the sea.
