“Slow service on one occasion, but impressed with food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

We had a day trip to Mosta and Mdina, and popped into Bacchus just before noon just for a drink. It was busy, and we liked the look of the menu, so after wandering around the city, we decided to eat.

It was 3pm, but it was really busy. There is a cool bar/eating area down stairs but what they call the sceret garden is a delight. It is a shady cool garden where it is so easy to relax. We both had pasta, which was really good, just cooked enough. The chilli choc tart is worth going to Bacchus for on its own.

Later during our holiday we had a cloudy day (in Malta in June!!!). We had not had time to visit Rabat (just outside the city walls of Mdina), so we took the opportunity to eat at Bacchus again.

Food good again, if anything the risotto was a little runny, but that choc chilli tart, wow.

Beautiful setting, great service, fantastic food, couldn't be better! This was one of our favourite places to eat in Malta.

“Lovely dinner in the Secret Garden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

The four in our group had a very nice dinner in the lovely "secret garden" area of the Bacchus restaurant. The restaurant is set in a historic area of town with beautiful views of the country at night. On the night we were there everyone appeared to be seated in this secret garden section of the restaurant, although the inside of Bacchus is quite large and has some beautiful dining areas. But there was plenty of room for all in the secret garden section. The wait staff was attentive and we all enjoyed our food. We had octopus carpaccio, tempera asparagus, and local prawns for starters, all of which were wonderful. For main plates we had local fish, steak, and a traditional Maltese rabbit dish which again were great. The steak was a bit over cooked, but still tasty. We enjoyed several bottles of the local Ulysses white wine that we particularly enjoyed. We would definitely recommend Bacchus to anyone traveling to Malta--good food and service in a lovely setting.

“Happy the wine terrace was full!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

Called to book a table at Vinum having eaten there on a prev trip, couldn't get in so by default we tried Baccus, could not of been happier!! I had the duck and it was amazing! Hubby had the pork and said it was the best pork belly he had tried! Followed by the chili choc tart and I was sold!! Will eat here again on the next visit! My only downside is the toilets, disappointing after the high standard of the restaurant.

“Business dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

The place greets you into an old barn where knights horse used to be kept. Foreigners are amazed on the structure and on how the place is decorated. The place starts off all in a good atmosphere. Drinks are available at a reasonable price. Food also well priced but the specialties of the day are on the high side. Our visitors opted to taste more than one specialty. Although good, but nothing to write about. Medium taste and none of wow.

However all the food was good, presentable and tasty, only none speciality although we ordered the day's recommended staff. Wine is also well priced. Desserts and coffees are a good clouser, however our guests requested a Amaro del Capo which the place did not have.

Dessert and coffee closes off the dinner....Price for 8 came up to € 427. Treatment and courtesy rated on the high side although we had to remind the restaurant staff twice that we had a missing plate. They reacted immediately and the serving was handed over in a few minutes.
