“Small but worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

It cost us €10 each to enter a small house but the inside is beautifully preserved as if the owner has just stepped out. Not cheap but worthy to keep the house open and available for viewing.

The owner was something of a renaissance man having been in the army, an artist, collector and active underwater archaeologist to name a few things he had done.

I liked the small dense library with its' step ladder up to the books. Photos not allowed inside but no problem in the courtyard or the rooftop terrace. The cafe on top is nice witha view of the rooftops.

“A must see in mdina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Great museum - a bit expensive at ten euro but worth visiting. Really well curated and audio guide was informative without being overwhelming. Really liked the digital technology too! Staff were very helpful plus there are fantastic views across Malta from the roof terrace/cafe. One of the better historical houses I have been to in quite a while.

“Relax and absorb the quiet treasure this place is.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

An Historic House museum, located in the 2nd oldest house in Mdina (ca 1300), Malta's original capital city. The house itself is Norman style with neat rooms and in-situ carvings & interesting private collections of Capt. Gollcher art objects, including paintings by Pretti, Van Dyck, Poussin. At roof level is the Cafe with a few small snacks...nothing amazing....BUT the panoramic views of The Mdina are breathtaking. This is a quiet place to escape to, to enjoy a taste of history and to relax with awe at the views. ...and if you dare to haul out a tablet or iPad in such a setting, there is free WiFi.
