“Bella cittadella”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

Talk about stepping back in time! What an amazing part of the town/city of Rabat(Victoria) to be able to sightsee in. The buildings, the tiny streets, the museums - all very well worth a visit. We purchased a multi-visit ticket, on the advice of the very nice gentleman at the first entrance and used it for lots of places. It was a bit steep, price-wise but when you think of these buildings being looked after and kept for posterity, it is all our responsibility to pay for their upkeep. I feel very lucky to have been able to visit.

“Interesting and full of history.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Very nice citadel, the panoramic views of Gozo are breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit. Folklore museum was okay, the old prison was small but very interesting. Lovely little lace and wool shop and the restaraunts look nice but did not eat in one.

“A must!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Beautiful and in the process of being renovated. Walk to top for stunning views and visit the war caves to cool off and walk through modern art exhibition. The cafe at the top is pretty good too for a salad and cool drink.

“Lots of Steps”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

The Citadel is a mixture of Cathedral and Castle, with several individual individual altars within it's area.
There are a number of individual museums, covering different areas of history, plus wartime shelters beneath the Citadel. The panoramic views are absolutely breath-taking!.
Just below the Citadel is the island capital of Victoria, sometimes known as Rabat. It has a central market place, with a number of restaurants around it. We have used several of them and the food tends to be excellent, plentiful and of a wide variety. This acts as a really nice backdrop to the Citadel.
However, be warned, there are steep hills and steps to access the Citadel, so it is not very suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet. The actual surface of the roads can be very slippery and treacherous in any weather. When we were there on Thursday, 31st July 2014, a lady slipped on her way down to the town centre and broke her leg.
I would recommend a visit, but remember both ladies and gents must have their shoulders covered in the Cathedral (shawls are available).
