“Too salty!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

One of the few places open in Lagoa after lunch on Sunday. Limpets too chewy, tuna incredibly salty. Nice views and pleasant service but food not good enough...

“Great view, oversalted food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Reasonable afternoon dinner here. Had delicious black sausage and pineapple appetizer, sopa mariscada. Then were looking forward to the grilled octopus we like so much, but it was rally oversalted. Beef kebab had too muh salt, too. Would have given it 4 stars otherwise.

“Wonderfull cracas and lapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Good food, nice staff. Ask for less butter on the lapas (I wonder why they put so much butter on lapas wherever we go). Filetes de abrótea are also a must. The restaurant has a very nice location near the sea. Wonderful sunset.

“Good fish restuarant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

This place is signposted form the road as 'Ocean waves' --which is how we found it. The staff all spoke good English and we enjoyed picking out our indvidial fish from the ice tray at the back of the dining area.

We ate here twice in the week we were on Sao Miguel, the second time going well out of our way to get to it, as we all agreed the food was so good.

There a small natural pool in the rocks by the restuarant --so you could swim and then eat.....

“Delicious fish and steak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

We came across this place by chance, driving along the southern coast at about 17.30 on our way back to the hotel, after having been told to come back at 19.00 at another place. And boy are we glad we chose to eat here (by the way, it is signposted as "Ocean waves").
Ordering a meal here at (or before) six is no problem at all, and the very friendly staff enthusiastically showed us their large selection of catch-of-the-day fish right away. I asked for a recommendation and was advised to try the garoupa, a large impressive looking specimen. This must have been one of the best fishes I've ever had, exquisitely tender and very subtle tasting. Absolutely delicious and definitely no garlic drenching here.
My wife had the tuna, and I must agree with the previous reviewer who diagnosed this as overdone, although in our case maybe not so extremely as he described.
Nevertheless, we returned here the following day to have a go at the steaks.
Our choices were the grilled steak mignon and the Azorean style steak mignon, and again these were both first class.
If we visit Sao Miguel again, then we will certainly pay ocean waves another visit.
