“Charming b&b, welcoming host, and great breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for the first part of our 2-week honeymoon in Iceland. Greta was very welcoming and gave us several good restaurant recommendations, and also suggested a daytrip itinerary around the Snaefellsnes Peninsula which we really enjoyed. Our room had a kitchen and there is a grocery store about a 5-minute walk away, and we enjoyed being able to cook dinner in the cozy space. And, as everyone else has said, the breakfast was AMAZING -- we are still dreaming about her homemade bread and jams.

Stykkisholmur was the first stop on our holiday. We were only booked in to Greta's for one night ( it would be a great location to explore the rest of the Snaefellsnes peninsular from) and we were made to feel right at home. Upstairs we had a nice bright double room. Really comfy beds and a view of distant snowcapped mountains. There are hot tubs in the garden too. Good restaurants just 5 mins walk idown towards the peaceful little harbour. We chose Narfeyrarstofa and it was fantastic.
Surely Greta's breakfast is by now legendary! Homemade breads and much more than you might expect. A good host with all the local information. Don't forget to visit the stunning church and the library of water!

Room Tip: Rooms at front offer bay view, we were at the back with garden/ mountain view. Our room had a slidin...

We were there only a night but liked it quite a lot- the beds were very comfy, and as all the other reviewers have noted, the breakfast was pretty amazing! It's a good location to walk to the harbor and other sites in the town and it is super easy to get to the ferry.

Room Tip: We had a double room on the top floor - nice views.

Opted to stay with Greta during my recent trip to Stykkisholmur and all of the reviews seem right on the money. Greta was amazingly hospitable and was chock full of information. I had a room on the first floor and it was on the small side and I can see why other travelers have noted the noise at breakfast. There were noisy kids when I was there and the parents did nothing to keep them quiet. Obviously, that's not Greta's fault but the upstairs room would have been far better to keep the noise at bay. The view from her B&B is amazing and I loved walking to the handful of restaurants in town. The pool is also within walking distance and, for such a small village, Stykkisholmur has first-rate facilities.

What a wonderful place to stay! We stayed here for two nights towards the end of our trip and it was absolutely wonderful. Gréta was a wonderful and gracious host taking care of all the basics and more!

A - Advice and Accommodations - Gréta offered excellent advice for activities around the area and dining. The accommodations were convenient and clean. The hot tub was a great way to relax after exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

B - Breakfast! What a great way to start the day, this breakfast is one you can't pass up. I won't give away all the little charms of it but it a great variety of fresh and natural foods. A perfect way to start your day!

C - Comfortable and Convenient - The beds were incredibly comfortable with lovely pillowy down comforters. The family room was bright with beautiful decor. The location was very close to all major spots in the town and have wonderful views of the church.

Although we were sad to leave we couldn't help but smile after our wonderful stay!

Greta made us feel like we were home. She treat us better than my mom would do!
She prepared the most delicious breakfast ever, and she even recommended us when and where to watch the Northern Lights (awesome) and the Killer whales! (we saw seals instead) :-D
Defenitely a MUST to go!
