“The only Hostel in Vik and not the rip-off it should have been.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

Situated perfectly on the top of the village overlooking everything and at the foot of the mountain the hostel was fairly quiet while we were there.

Everyone was smiles and answers and recommendations and advice and all sorts. The rooms were very clean and nice, beds were all located perfectly that you weren't tripping over people or things and every bed had a view out the window.

More expensive than the average hostel because it is the only one in the village and for miles around, it still isn't the most expensive I've ever been at, completely worth the cost and could easily have charged the cost of the Hilton seeing as there wasn't anywhere else open or available.

Arriving quite late but still inside the normal working hours, the receptionist was really nice.
The hostel looks like a normal house and the reception has a cozy sofa and TV.
Our room was really cute on top floor. Kitchen, toilet, dinning room, all were very functional and with plenty of space.
The staff was young and kind.
Many attractions nearby and excellent place for a stop in south of Iceland while discovering the natural and exceptional attractions iceland has to offer besides the capital.

The hostel was busy even in January but not a loud or party atmosphere. There are 3 levels in the hostel and we stayed on the bottom. The beds were pretty comfortable but the hostel could use more bathrooms. If you are staying here during the winter you should definitely get the breakfast because nothing else is open in the town except the gas station until later in the day. The living room area is very cozy and the dining area has lots of seating.

Stayed here 2 nights Dec 2012. Vik is a small village and the person in the petrol station gave us quick and easy directions. It is at the very end of the road up the hill. Friendly knowledgable staff. Built in layers - so there are different levels. Kitchen well stocked with utensils. Dining room large and looks out on the village below. Rooms warm and clean and tidy. Shower/w.c on each level - shared (as is normal in iceland accommodation). Shower hot but not powerful. Plenty of parking available. Small friendly feel to the place. Busy, even in the midst of winter. TV in small lounge at the entrance. Lots of local attraction / travel info available.

Loved this hostel in the village of Vik iMrydal in Iceland. Very homely. The living room and kitchen feels like you're at home. Busy all year round. 6 months advance booking required especially in summer.

Hasn't got its own website with directions and contact numbers so had to call from booking confirmation to find them as no signs to hostel amd no locals knew of it. Coming from reykjavik direction - take first left up a hill, keep going 50 metres after Tarmac ends and hostel is around to the left.

Lovely staff. Comfy beds. Really nice breakfast with home made bread, preserves and their own eggs. Great atmosphere - lively but not in a leery way.

Downside - Could do with some more toilets

Stayed in this hostel during the summer for a one night stopover as I was doing the ringroad trip. This is a charming place with very friendly staff. Although small, it gives a nice welcome to its guests and is located quite close to the centre of town where a supermarket opens till 8pm (in summer). The kitchen facilities are used extensively by the guests as is the normal in Icelandic hostels. The only negative may be that shoes must be removed on entering the hostel and at the entance one will find loads of guests' shoes in front of him.
