“Fabulous views, friendly hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

Stayed for 3 nights as part of tour. Hotel was clean and staff very friendly. Beds copmfortable and if you do need extra pillows then all you have to do is ask !! Food was very nice, good lamb, fish etc. Breakfast was standard buffet type but more than enough to set you up for the day. Views fabulous and great location for Dyrholaey headland where you can find lots of puffins despite this years problems with breeding. Free wifi too !! Overall as stated previously good place to spend a couple of days.

I stayed here 1 night as part of a tour group. Very basic but clean. Nice setting with views towards the glacier. Breakfast a 7am was packed, as was dinner, with tour groups. Food very basic but edible. If you are looking for something more than just basic, don't stay here.

This was a great place to spend a couple of nights. Large room, very comfortable, clean great bed. Decor could use a boost but everything necessary was there.

We stayed one night here, and that was enough. 3 large tour groups plus many other guests meant a big bustling hotel with inadequate staff for service. And outside our room was what I think was a pump for water or something that went most of the night and made sleep difficult. Not a great stay.

The accomodations here are simple and austere. Cabin-like rooms with two twin beds and a TV. No phone. It feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere. It's nice and relaxing with lots of greenery all around. Free wifi in the lobby. Dinner at the restaurant was fairly tasty (green salad with feta cheese, roast pork w/ veggies, and ice cream). The hotel service was excellent. Overall, it was a cozy, quiet place to stop along the Ring Road.

Very nice staff, cozy warm rooms and we ate really very tasty lamb at the in-house restaurant - we didn't eat out much anywhere else on our trip but this one was worth it. Good breakfast too.

It's in a very isolated spot but probably nicer to stay here than in Hofn or Vik, depending what you're into or how far you want to travel in a day.

We were a bit late for it but I can imagine this'd be a great spot to see the northern lights

After staying in a really adorable family inn with amazing food (Country Hotel Anna) the night before, Hotel Dyrholaey was a bit disappointing. The bed was comfortable, but the room wasn't really decorated. There is Internet you can use for 15 minutes for free in the lobby. The food wasn't spectacular, but they didn't make us a vegetarian meal on request. We had been looking forward to the view, which was very nice, but after driving all day seeing that same view (more or less), it didn't impress as much as hoped. The front desk was helpful with suggestions about what to do when we asked. Nothing about this hotel was really bad, it's just that none of it was that special.
