“Purely Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Although we were only able to stay one night at the Volcano Hotel it was our favorite place on our trip to Iceland. From the moment we arrived we were relaxed. The location is peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The beds are superbly comfortable. We had a great visit.

The morning we left we slept through breakfast but the staff had thoughtfully prepared a leave over breakfast for us. It was great!

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. On our next visit to Iceland we will book more time here!

This is our favourite hotel in Iceland on this trip. It is small, quiet, clean, nicely decorated and we loved the polished black floors. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed, it just had a peaceful feel to it. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed the meal. The breakfasts were also great, the best we have had here. We were really glad we had booked for two days as one night would not have been enough - we couldn't have asked for anything more from our stay.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back - we preferred this to the rooms at the front as they seemed more private...

As everyone else has stated, the Volcano Hotel is just wonderful. The rooms look like Ikea show-rooms! The shower is great, good wifi, excellent breakfast, etc! Not to mention that the neighbors are adorable baby sheep. We did a tour with Johann, which was terrific. He is extremely knowledgable about the area. It's part adventure, part hiking, part history lesson, and lots of laughs.

Excellent small hotel very clean, quiet and staff all very friendly.
Well recommended. previously stayed in 2 other small hotels here in Iceland but they were overpriced and nowhere near as good. Rooms clean and tidy and the evening meal well prepared and value for money.

This was my favorite hotel outside of the city Reykjavik. It was clean. The food and hospitality was great. The showers were amazing (the water pressure was really good and the hot water was HOT). It's the location that seals the deal. Close to Vik beach and across from Dyrholaey. I believe this place books quite quickly, so if you know your roadtripping route already and are looking for a hotel near Vik, then I would book here asap.

One night there is not enough ! The views are amazing, even in the back rooms (wonderful sunstes on the hill), the rooms are large and the bathrooms very clean. Scrumptuous breakfasts with view on the ocean and above all a very warm welcome. If you decide to walk on the glacier do not hesitate to go with Johann : an excellent guide, very patient, he knows a lot about the glacier and will even drive you there within 20 minutes !

They are preparing fantastic dinner same time you have a great Ocean view. The rooms were newly renovated with all you need. At the end it was very easy to find just next to the 1 with a large sign. They are offering Monster trucks to the glacier directly from the hotel.
