“Fun times had by all!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

I went up with Glacier Jeeps for snowmobiling with my parents in June 2014. It was a rainy day and there was limited visability up the mountain otherwise I would have rated it 5, but the company itself was great and we had a great experience unlike some of the other reviews.

The ride up and down the mountain was good, informative, fun. We were suited up with the safety equipment and despite a large group bring there behind us it all ran smoothly.

Our guide was super great and actually let me ride with him since I was the odd woman out. He was cool about it :) The ride itself was fun and had a good amount of information about the glacier mixed in.

“Wonderful snowmobile excursion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

We had a wonderful time on the 1 hour snowmobile trip. The guides were personable and very funny! They took the time to take photos for us as well. Even though the day was cloudy / rainy, we still had a great time.

“Mission accomplished!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

If you visit Iceland you cannot miss a trip on Europe's largest ice cap . We read about this option on our guide and we were thrilled to be able to drive a snowmobile. The fixed day (May , 2014, in the expedition were only five and it was not necessary to book, thing than can be done easily via e-mail ) we found ourselves at a hostel which serves as a basis for departure. It was delivered the equipment complete with overalls and helmet and then we went to the glacier.
The tour begins with the super- jeep used to reach the place where they left their snowmobiles. During the period when we went there was a lot of snow and we leaved at a point lower than the normal departure from the shelter because the road is closed in its final stretch. Before arriving at the destination we found the road blocked by snow so the guide has ventured off-road in the snow . It ' was very exciting , even though he was very quiet, because he was used to driving in those conditions.
Once on , they showed us how to drive snowmobiles and off we went. We drove on the glacier for an hour, with four stops to see the glacier . During stops the guide gave us informations on the glacier itself.
I must say that it was a very exciting experience especially for driving a snowmobile!
Reading the other reviews I am very surprised to read some negative opinions as well. First of all, our guides spoke fluent English, and although they were not very expansive, were nice and kind. On the glacier we also found in many parts some clouds that made almost no visibility, but I think this is not a negative note due to the guides (if you want the sun is known to be necessary to go to the Maldives). Maybe in time that has passed until now they have changed staff, but overall our experience was very positive.
The price is substantially high, but I think it is money well spent for a similar experience. Recommended!

“Snowmobiling!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

This was a hit with my family! Awesome activity for half a day. A very scenic 4 wheel drive from the junction of the road which has Clear parking with signs. Then we were oriented, changed into warm clothes provided by them and then off we went in their snowmobile. This was a very fun activity in this region. Must do for active people.

“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Not completely their fault, but even though we had fun it was a bit of a 'meh' - it was a total whiteout day and it was snowing, we were lucky we got to go out on the skidoo at all. On their side, the guides were not very talkative - the best piece of information was about the beer that is produced from 1000-year-old glacier water (and that you can of course sample at their bar for a slightly above average price - admittedly, it's delicious). The guy driving us up in the jeep did not say much at all.. There was quite a bit of waiting around while everybody got sorted out with equipment and the payments were taken - no one tried to engage us in a bit more of conversation or gave out any more information than strictly necessary. I thought if the guides showed a bit more involvement and passion that could go a great length even if the day was not so great. They provide all equipment (except goggles, which would also have made our experience soooo much better as we kept getting icy snow in the eyes trying to follow the guide blindly in the whiteness...quite painful!). The overalls are warm, but some of them are so worn out they are no longer waterproof (mine turned out to have a big split on the backside). The short induction on how to use the skidoo is pretty straightforward, and we spent enough time on the glacier itself..although we couldn't see anything but white. We were there in the second half of September, and at that time of the year there is no need for bookings - as it is an expensive activity I suggest to save it for a nice day if at all possible. Had we waited for the next day I'm sure we would have had a much better experience.
