“A wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We took the red eyes flight from New York to Reyjavik. We arrived at the hotel around 8:30am. The receptionist told us a room would be available for us by 11:00am, even though their check in time is 2:00pm. During the interim, we drove to downtown, walked a little, had breakfast, and returned to the hotel by 11:00am and a room was waiting for us.
The high floor room was very nice. It has an earthy color theme with a touch of orange to give color to the room. The clean room and bathroom have a simply modern look. There is a 40-inch flat screen TV in the room that we did not get a chance to watch. However, the room did not have WiFi. Therefore, we went to the lobby and sit on one of those soft comfortable seats to do work on the computer.
We had a buffet breakfast at the Hilton where we were escorted to our table. It had a wonderful selection of food. There were hot, cold, and room temperature food. A matter of fact, out of our nine days in Iceland, Hilton offered the best breakfast we had on the entire trip.
When compared with the other lodges with private bathroom where we stayed in throughout Iceland, Hilton’s price per night is very reasonable. It has free parking. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton.

Went with a friend for three nights to Reykjavik and this hotel was perfect! We had a twin room with two single beds and it was spacious and spotlessly clean with a big bathroom and super view. The lobby is large with lots of seating, which was useful as many people tended to wait in the area for collection for tours in the mornings. Breakfast was very good - plenty of choice and excellent value when booked with room rate. As many others have stated it is out of the town (a 20 minute walk), but taxis wait outside and cost approx £10 which didn't seem outrageous. Didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings as we wanted to try some of the restaurants in the city, which were superb. Only slight negative would be that the room was fairly warm - didn't seem to have air conditioning, but we did open the windows so it wasn't too bad and we were there when they had their hottest day of the year. Would definitely stay here again!

Like many of the reviewers on this site I had a mixed experience of the Nordica. Whilst there is nothing that can be done about the location - it is not in the center of town - with just a few changes this could be an outstanding hotel rather than a very good one.

The hotel is modern, spotless and extremely well designed in a Scandinavian chic style. It's quite clearly one of the places to be 'seen' in the City and many business people, movie stars etc stay there.. The breakfast is extremely good (lots of choice), and was the best one I encountered in Iceland (I stayed at around 7 hotels on a tour). although I was surprised that the decaf coffee was actually an instant coffee. Lots of gluten free bread though! I had a single room and whilst it was perfectly adequate, it was small and had I been on a business trip I would have wanted more desk space. The bathroom was very small. Whilst wifi was available, it wasn't possible to get a connection in the bedroom and the lobby was full in the evening with people going online. I was expecting the food to be more expensive than downtown, but it compared cost wise very favourably with the central restaurants and i ate there very happily.

Out of town access by car/coach from the Nordica is excellent but there is very little to see nearby and you will need to either walk (I definitely think it's longer than 15 minutes to the centre), take a bus (there's a bus stop across the street), take the shuttle (which only runs a few times a day) or take a taxi (c. 2000 krona). If you feel like staying in, there's an excellent coffee shop just a minute or two up the street, and a Chinese restaurant, which some friends recommended,

The Hilton is your standard American chain hotel. Sits about a mile from the city center. Good price. They have a very nice breakfast buffet. Clean and comfortable. Flybus airport shuttle drops you off at hotel.

This is without a doubt one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Staff are friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurant is second to none (their steak may be the best I've ever had), the award winning cocktails are a must, the rooms are excellent. My wife and I stayed there over Christmas and New Year in 2011 and it was an experience I'll never forget. There's nothing I can complain about and if the food is too pricy don't worry, there's a coffee shop about 30 seconds walk from the front door which does all kinds of food for very reasonable prices

We stayed here for three nights before and after our driving tour of southern Iceland. The hotel was very chic and beautiful. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast is probably the best in the city (as told to me by my Icelandic friend who visits on occasion just for the breakfast!). The location is slightly out of the city center, but well-paved walking/biking paths make it an easy 15-minute walk to town. The bar and restaurant Vox are excellent too and worth a visit. The service was impeccable. We were able to check in right after our morning arrival! Also, I left a bag in the first floor bathroom on my way to the airport! The front desk found it and shipped it to me. Amazing! I can't imagine a place with better service.

There are not that many "luxury" hotels in Reykjavik so we chose this Hilton thinking it would be good enough and were not disappointed. The breakfast was very good and hotel staff helpful. Rooms were very basic but nice. The only serious minus is that they don't have appropriate curtains to keep the daylight out at night! (It is indeed very light here at North in the summer.)
