“Very enjoyable and accommodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

We had a late reservation and they took great care of us. Don't miss the panna cotta desert. Appetizers were great, esp. the risotto and balentine of chicken and herbs. Main course was modified to our needs. As usual the lamb was delicious (Iceland lamb is great). They were out of pork cheeks and gave us langoustines instead - they were great!
Lovely interior and great location.

“Yet another excellent restaurant in Reykjavik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Reykjavik is teeming with excellent restaurants, and Einar Ben is one of them. It's in a charming old house, simply and tastefully decorated. It's a great place for a more quiet evening, no hustle and bustle. The highlight of my dinner was a delicious smoked haddock risotto that was prepared to perfection, enhancing the flavor of the fish, while still maintaining balance. I've always admired the respect that Icelandic chefs have for their local foods.

“Food to die for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

We ate out for 4 evenings and the food here was the best. Better than the Reykjavik Restaurant, the Lobsterhouse or the Geysir Bistro. Very attentive and attractive service and food to die for.

“Great Food, rivals any great US city hot spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Agree with other reviewers that the prices are high (but found that all of Reykjavik is expensive) and the service is slow (which in my opinion is not bad service, but what they are used to - long meals) - but with that said, it was a really great meal. We did the five course chef's special and I must admit we loved each and every course. The lamb was one of the best I've ever had and the dessert was to die for - so much that the next day we went back just for the dessert! Great location too - a bit hard to find if you aren't looking for it as it's on the second floor - but worth a visit if you are there.

“Regular food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Place has been recommended, but was kind of a let-down. Value?? Some very good alternatives nearby.
