Lovely hotel in the center of Reykjavic. Easy walking to dining, shopping, and the bay. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was included. We love Iceland, but do not expect great food. The breads were wonderful however, and service in the restaurants we tried was impeccable. Going back in 1 month!

Room Tip: All the rooms are radiant heated from the floor up. The beds were all down pillows and comforters (w...

A clean and modern hotel in an excellent location. We got a room facing the sea. Had an awesome panoramic view of the Esja mountain range. Due to the low level of light pollution around the mountains, we managed to catch a glimpse of the northern lights from the comfort of our hotel room! While the hotel claims to notify guests (by calling your room) if there are northern lights at night, don't count on it.

Stayed here for 1 night as part of a stay in Iceland
On the plus side;
• Small free car park at the rear (if you are lucky enough to get one of the 4 or 5 spaces)
• Chose a delux room which included spa entrance, a larger room and high floor sea rooms- worth it if you can afford the upgrade
• Handy central location
• Modern

But;
• Arrived before check in time and room was not ready – although they did offer to store the case whilst the room was prepared to enable you to go out
• The bathroom is a wet room and everything does really get very wet when you have a shower
• Average breakfast could be better quality

Overall would I stay here again after visiting….yes, I would

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a delux room- you get a guaranteed sea view and included spa entrance

We had a 3 night stay here in March 2013. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Recommendations for restaurants were very good and the breakfast at the hotel could set you up for the day. Our room overlooked the sea and distant mountains. The views from the restaurant were amazing and it was only a short walk to the centre of Reykjavik. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the sea.

Hotel is only a few hundred metres from the centre, clean, good service and breakfast. Delightful bar/restaurant on 8th floor with great views.
Rooms a bit run down with missing blinds, things falling off walls. Bathrooms tiny, where everything gets wet, so plan for that.
Excellent help booking trips with pick up from hotel. Good value, though not top standard, acceptable.

Yes the rooms are small, but no smaller than some hotels I've stayed at in London and how much time do you spend there? The bathroom does get wet due to the compact shower layout, but dries out quickly. Due to the underfloor heating, the rooms all have tiled floors, which is not great when the person in the room above is wearing shoes. Our neighbour above sounded like they were tap dancing into the small hours!The main positives are location; a few minutes walk from all the main amenities. Excellent buffet breakfast on the 8th floor with a fabulous view too. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. It's worth mentioning that the "Panaroma" restaurant no longer exists. They now only offer a small selection of bar snacks and this has been rebranded to 'Sky Lounge'. Happy hour between 1700-1900 2 for 1 on Viking beer!

All in all a nice place to stay. The only serious concern I had was the fact that they appeared to be using part of the fire escape as a store room on the 8th floor (glasses, step ladders, beer keg). I hope this was just due to the redecorating going on due to the restaurant rebranding, but I'll leave it to the hotel to explain their actions.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 212 which has a view across the water to the mountains in the distance

Dear Esoteric_Mind,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us and other travelers. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are also happy to hear that you enjoyed the services of our staff. We are however very sorry that you experienced noise from the room above you.

We are also happy to announce that we are launching the new SKY bar & lounge on the 8th floor of CenterHotel Arnarhvoll. We are very excited about this and are introducing a bar menu at the moment. SKY bar & lounge offers the most spectacular views over the sea, mountains and Harpa concert Hall.

Thank you very much for bringing the fire escape matter to our attention. We will address that immediately and make sure that all fire escapes are clear.

We certainly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Iceland and CenterHotels in the future.

Please do not hesitate to contact me personally if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Eva Josteinsdottir

I won't repeat some of the slightly negative points that people have highlighted but can honestly say that whilst the rooms are a little small and the bathrooms do take some skill to keep dry the hotel offers a great value, great view, great location (away from any late night noise) coupled with excellent staff always willing to help at reception and at the new 'sky bar' on the top floor I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a base in Reykjavik ..,
