A very comprehensive museum covering all periods of Icelandic history, beginning with Viking times and progressing to present day. The displays of historical artifacts were complemented by a few interactive electronic exhibits. Surprisingly the museum was practically empty when we visited on a weekday afternoon. We spent about an hour browsing the 2-floor exhibition though you could probably spend more time studying the displays more closely. Although a bit removed from the most busy area of the commercial City Center, we found it a worthwhile excursion and worth the 1000 kr entrance fee.
