Having stayed at a variety of hotels around Europe of varying quality, I have to say that this is probably the best hotel I've ever visited. The hotel itself is very close to the heart of the city- around tons of shops, bars and restaurants.
I've heard from other reviewers that the street noise is quite loud on the weekend, and when we were there, the noise was a little intense one of the evenings (I believe it was Carnival, so people were out later than usual), we weren't there on the weekend so I can't speak to that.
Overall the hotel has a modern, comfortable design, and the lobby is very welcoming. They were also great when our flight arrived at 6am and our room wasn't ready, they offered us breakfast, allowed us to store our luggage in the hotel and were very accommodating.
We had a great trip and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable hotel in Reykjavik.
Small, per usual for Europe, but comfortable. The bed was a good size and comfy. My husband is very picky about pillows and thought they were uncomfortable, but I didn't have a problem with them.
Some other reviewers expressed discomfort at the glass doors on the bathroom. I can imagine if I didn't know the people I was traveling with too well, it would be uncomfortable, but again, wasn't a sticking point for me. Certainly not a point that would cause me to not recommend this hotel. The heated floors of the bathroom were super nice too! Especially after a day of running around the cold city!
Breakfast, of course, is always a welcome addition (I'll get to that later), and the evening happy hour is a good price for the city (which is notoriously expensive). The gym is a little of a joke (2 elliptical machines, one exercise ball and a few free weights) but we weren't there to work out. Probably my favorite amenity of the hotel is the heated pool and steam bath just past the workout room. Several times during our stay we ventured down to the pool after a long day or after our run through the city and it was such a nice chance to relax and unwind. We never saw anyone else using it, so it felt like our own private pool area.
Hearty, awesome. They also serve a local dairy product, Skyr yogurt I believe it's called, which is delicious. Other than that, it's your usual assortment of pastries, meats, fruits and cereals. The whole dining area is very calming and just a very nice way to start the day.
If you're looking for a place in Reykjavik, look no further!
Maybe try a room at the back of the building if you will be there on a weekend and think the street...
