Was this hotel centrally located...yes. Was it a nice room and did it have a stylish bar/lobby area...yes? Were the check-in staff friendly...yes. Did we inform the clerk that we had to get sleep because we had to leave very early...yes. Did we get any sleep while staying there...NO.
The city was nice and by 9:00pm on a Saturday, things got quiet and we planned on getting a good night's sleep before having to leave at 4:30am the next morning for our flight out. Unfortunately by midnight we were awakened by loud (and I mean blasting noise) yelling and pounding music. At first I thought the next room was having a party or that it might be the bar in the lobby. I swear it sounded like there were people in my room the noise was so loud. Turns out it was a club down the street that had their doors opened, and so the noise reflected outward and into our direction. The noise was non-stop until we left our hotel at 4:30am. When we checked out, the clerk asked if we had a nice stay. We informed him that it would have been good to know ahead of time there was a club so close. His response..."you should have requested a quiet room". My response "I would have had I know I needed a reason for that request'. Next time, I'd stay at an airport hotel. I'd still go back to Iceland, just wouldn't stay here.
