Owner description: A Viking Museum that intimately recreates key moments in Icelandic early history, moments that have determined the fate of our people and which give a compelling view into how Icelanders have lived for more than a millennium. From the time of the earliest settlers, history is brought to life in a unique and exciting way, with life-like wax wax figurines. Visitors are guided through the museum with an audio-guide.

“History Lesson of Iceland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

Situated in the Pearl is the Saga Museum. In comparison to museums in England it is a small museum, but it is worth a visit! This is a history lesson we enjoyed. The audio headphone device you are given and the life like displays made it very interesting during our 40 minute tour. If you don't use the audio, your visit can be completed in minutes. Afterwards we toured the rest of the Pearl and visited the cafe and gift shop. The viewing deck provides good views all around Reykjavik.

“Best of the museums in Reykjavik”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

Best of the museums in Reykjavik. It is small but worth your time if you are interested in the Vikings and history of Iceland. The wax figures are quite good. I actually touched one to see if he was alive and one lady was sure she saw him breathing! The recording is so much easier than most. It advances automatically, thus avoiding fumbling. However, I should have looked for a pause button so I could think and absorb the information. I would not recommend this for children under twelve---just too much information.
View from Perlan is a must see and I wish I had eaten dinner at the restaurant.

“Little pricey but excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Little too expensive but the wax models are of the highest quality. Staff were friendly. Lots of stuff crammed into a small space. Moving site into city center soon so will be easier to get to Recommended.

“A bit expensive, but enjoyable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

It is a bit expensive (2,000ISK) but we enjoyed it. It's small, but very well made. A lot of effort has gone in to it, and it's got a good atmosphere.

If you're short on time, maybe don't bother, but if you're in Reykjavik for a few days, it's worth a visit. But try to go on a clear day so you can enjoy the viewing deck as well.

On a side note: the cafe at the viewing deck sells good soup with free refills, making a good stop for lunch.
