“Very good choice in Reykjavik.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

CentreHotel Plaza is a very nice Hotel that Has it all. The staff are really wonderful by all means, they are very informative and helpful and they all have the nice delicate sense of hospitality.
Reception area is bright and pleasant, check in went effectively and very fast. The room " 132" is really a nice one but it is like a MAZE to find the room.... the hotel is 4 buildings connected together and you need to go from one building to another through passages from inside the hotel to reach your room.... it is a bit strange. The room has it all ...very comfortable beds,Nice LCD TV, Phone, desk, minibar, elegant bathroom, medium size closet, wooden floor. The only thing is that the window did not have a blackout Curtain which is very necessary to prevent the stubborn day light that never goes out in the summer time.
Breakfast was really good and contains a very good variety " Cheese, Boiled Eggs, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage , Bacon, Fruits, Cereal , Coffee, Tea, Water, Juice......etc".
Tourist office is just beside the hotel and another one is at the front of the Hotel.
The Hotel is in one of the main sq. of the City , in the beginning of the shopping street Lauvgavegur, Very close to ICELAND EXCURSIONS tour office, all travel agencies stop for tour Pick up from this Hotel.
WI FI is free and Excellent and you can login with as much as you want of computers or Smart phones....etc. it even works well if you are setting at the front Square or nearby restaurants.
I loved this Hotel and will sure stay here again if I ever come to REYKJAVIK again.
Iceland has really a Unique Character.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the main building.

Exceptionally good hotel and it is in the best location possible. There are restaurants and cafes galore within a 5 minute walk of the hotel in a very nice, clean and beautiful plaza. Also it only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the coach station where you will most likely be heading to each day to begin your excursions. The breakfast was very nice and there was a large selection of foods available to eat. This is the perfect base for if you want to explore Reykjavik.
My one criticism is because of the the excellent central location, you do get drunken Icelanders stumbling around and shouting in the early hours of the morning as they leave the bars/clubs to hail Taxis and grab a bite to eat. It's nothing major but if your room is at the front of the hotel and you're staying over a weekend, you will get them in the early hours of a Saturday and Sunday morning (just like in any major city).

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter because the hotel overlooks a plaza where people go to ca...

This hotel could not have a better location right on the main square in Reykjavik. There was everything you could possibly need within a minute or two from the from door including an abundant supply of excellent restaurants. The reception staff were great, everything you asked of them was dealt with immediately and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a bit on the small side however this did not matter to much as the time we spent in it across the 5 days was minimal. It was very clean and smart, the bed comfortable and it has been refurbished recently. For the price point I would say you would be hard pushed to find a better hotel in as central location as this property, if I returned to Reykjavik I would defiantly stay here again.

Stayed here in March, 2013. The rooms were well furnished with comfortable beds and nice restrooms. There were flatscreen tvs in the rooms. The rooms were not huge but quite nice. There was a buffet breakfast each morning that had an extremely large variety of food and all of it was of very high quality.

The hotel is situated in the center of the city. It is very close to all of the sights in Reykjavik. It is on top of a small cafe and grocery store and there are many restaurants right across the street.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Reykjavik.

Nice little hotel in a really good central location.
Friendly staff and a decent, varied breakfast.
Near to some very good restaurants and only 2 minutes walk into the town centre.
Very good value for money and an ideal base to explore Reykjavik.

Stayed with a friend in January of 2010. Hotel was very clean. Wood floors. Room was small but it was fine for us, we were hardly in it. The location is probably the best part of the hotel. Visitors center next door. Groceries and restaurants all within walking distance.

Spent a week here, had a fantastic time. The beds are a little small, the shower is ridiculously small, and it's impossible to not drench the floor when you're done with showering. That said, definitely not a deal breaker and I've seen worse.

We took over the lounge every night until 3am and the service was incredible. Indy, the front desk clerk, took amazing care of us. He was overly friendly and hilarious, and very helpful when we needed directions to get around the city. I've never met anyone better at his job and I've traveled a lot. More hotel staff should be like him
