“Good food, great prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Food prices in Iceland are extremely high compared to in the US. When we found Durum, we were relieved to see more reasonable prices. We were even more pleased when we tasted the food. It's very well-seasoned, well-cooked, and has a decent variety. As a vegetarian, I often have difficulty finding variety in restaurants but not at Durum - there were so many vegetarian options that we had to go back twice more for dinner!

“Good food and nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We stopped in at Durum for dinner after wandering through Reykjavik. We both had the daily fish special (salmon, potatoes and salad) - the food was good, and for only 1690kr (about $14.25 CDN) the fish dinner was a great deal. Would certainly go back.

“Great selection of food with a nice atmosphere!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

Being my first day in Reykjavik, I looked for someplace simple and relatively inexpensive (remember, we are in Iceland). Durum provided me with a meal and a drink that left me full for 1,200 krona (roughly $10 USD). The employees are young and seem to be energetic and most look like they enjoy their job! I'd come back again!

“Wholesome food, budget price- our favourite in Reykjavik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

We were frequent patrons at Durum.

Favourite menu items: Breakfast special (1290 kr) comes with a bit of omelette, bacon, sausage (bit like a hot dog sausage), baked beans, toast, cheese, and slice of fruit.
Breakfast special kept us fuelled for hours - just the right amount of a variety of ingredrients.

I tried a variety of their daily soup specials and all were good (Soup of the day 790 kr).
I always got the bread as well (250kr) as i liked their wholesome healthy and filling bread. Soup portion was good, so a nice meal.

We both liked their coffee too.

The mostly young guys on staff show a real flair for customer service.

Warmest heated bathroom (with change table) in town.

I always liked the variety of music playing in the background.

They have free wifi that connects easily.

This would be our favourite place to eat on a budget.

“Better places on Laugavegur”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Staffed by a bunch of surly, attitudinising youths who would curdle milk with one glance.

That's no problem. One usually goes to these types of places to chow down rather than make friends, but of course then you have to place your order twice and get given the wrong change so it's all a bit of a hassle.

Food is bland, the coffee is really not worth the bother. Only go if you're really stuck for other options.
